  • Hello,

    I am trying to load usernames and passwords from a text file into an array.

    All seems to work fine except I want it to ignore spaces and returns (enters).

    I ask this because when I put some names and passwords in the text file like this:

    FirstnameLastname|password;FirstnameLastname|password;FirstnameLastname|password;

    I can get it to work just fine.

    But when i do this;

    Firstname Lastname|password;

    Firstname Lastname|password;

    Firstname Lastname|password;

    it seems to mess up.

    Obviously the second option would be a lot easier to read though so I would like it to filter out the spaces and returns when putting it into the array.

    Thanks for reading,

    Danny

  • I will have to have several members with each their own log in details be able to add and change data (markers with labels) so not sure if this would work for me or how to do it. But from what I understand in the licensing is that I am basically allowed to copy parts of the map. (at least until the town council here provides me with one) That way I can put it in Construct2 and have people log in to the 'game' to change stuff there. Not sure what a DOM element is btw.

  • So you mean that map is loaded live from the openstreetmap.org server in its own layer and you made your interactive data in a seperate layer in construct2 as an overlay?

    Am I getting that right? That looks pretty slick I must admit.

    Dank je wel trouwens

  • I will try these options and see what works best for me thanks. Really appreciate the suggestions. Cheers!

    Btw.. not making a game whehehe. Just an interactive map for a volunteer group I am in.

    We do repairs and pick litter and such here in town and I am trying to make a map where we can mark things that need attention and mark them DONE when we got to them. Instead of going the usual webdesign route I figured I would try using Construct2 just to see how far I get and it is a good motivator to learn Construct2 a bit better.

    So I will probably have future questions like how do I store data on the server and load it into an array and how to make a secure login that only allows 1 user at a time to be active.. But that is for another time. Probably will be looking at youtubes and such to see if there are answers there first of course. I just love the community feel of the Scirra forum.

    Thanks again!

    Regards,

    Danny

  • That is what i tried but i think the being zoomed in messes it up cause it does move in the right direction but only a fraction of the distance.. This is why i asked here..

  • I am making a map that I can zoom in and out like for example google maps. And when I zoom in it centers on where the cursor is.

    How do i make it dragable so that I can hold the mouse button to scroll the map? I have tried the 'scroll to' function but that seems to just move it a bit and not be working as well as I hoped. Any ideas?

    I have sofar got this..

    Cheers for reading!

  • I understand it is part of the forum but the post called "[How do I] Frequently asked questions" posted by Kyatric references pages that no longer work. And this seems to be one of the most usefull posts on there.. Where else am i going to find examples of how to store variables in a save game like fashion with Json?

    Good work on keeping the site, forum and program updating men. You are doing an awesome job..

  • Thanks Ashley. I didn't think it would have much impact. I don't see it really cause i am on a desktop system on HD settings and decent hardware but i have a couple of friends test stuff and in this case two laptops running both chrome and firefox both get sluggish results. Chrome at 39 and FF at 43 fps..

    It's a mystery to me.. very different laptops too with big difference in hardware and age. But as i see it this sort of stuff should still run at a nice 57-60 fps.

    I would have tested it myself by simply changing some stuff around but since i have a system that has no trouble running it (i run 60fps in both browsers) i can't effectively test this. Anyways.. i was just getting some confirmation here since i already kinda said to myself this couldn't be it.

    I since posting here added a couple checkpoints but again exactly how it was shown in the live class week#1..

    Here if you want to see..

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It runs WebGL so no prob there btw

  • So i created a monochrome 32x32 pixel sprite in Construct itself just as is being done in the live classes and stretched those out to form the ground and platforms. Made a second 32x32 sprite and stretched that to 32x64 and gave it the platform behaviour again similar to what is being done in the live classes. That is all. This simplest ever setup already doesn't get above 43 frames on a laptop. The resolution of the window that game runs in is 1024 x 512. So my question is "does the stretching a 32x32 sprite make it count as a bigger picture or should it still run superfast"?

    I can include a capx but i think this setup is so simple it should make a very clear question as it is? Thanks in advance..

    Regards, Danny
