  • I love these. Thank you for the many laughs Tom, keep 'em coming :)

  • What genre of game is it? For most games you can simply strip away unnecessary parts of the interface to reduce clutter or scale down the interface a little more than the rest of the game.

If you haven't gotten too far into development and have both mobile and desktop as ideal targets then definitely do as Sugart said and design with mobile in mind first. You can always "go bigger" on the desktop version where as taking away to make a mobile version can be tough.

    edit: Spelling mistakes :/

  • > Yep, for the amount of seconds just use floor(random(x,y)) in the dialog box, with X being the minimum amount and Y being the maximum.

    how do u get floor?

The Random function grabs a decimal number from X and Y not whole values. Floor rounds that number down to a whole number to make things easier to work with.

  • Yep, for the amount of seconds just use floor(random(x,y)) in the dialog box, with X being the minimum amount and Y being the maximum.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Depending on when you want to spawn them here is a quick example:

    System - Every X Seconds

System - Create Object (Ship) on Layer Z at X,Y

    Edit:

Oops forgot about the second part. You can use the same as above for increasing their speed. Assuming they have a Bullet behaivor:

    System - Every X Seconds

    System - Ship -> Set Speed -> (Ship.Bullet.Speed + X)

  • I'm not a lawyer and I'm not from Nintendo, so take that into account first.

The safest thing to do is to not use the sprites from an already copyrighted IP. Nintendo owns the Mario sprites and as such you can get in trouble if you use them without their express permission. You can use the same gameplay but not the sprites. If it is for anything that someone other than your household would see, I would say rule-of-thumb is don't do it.

Always remember that just because there are games out there using the sprites does not mean that it is okay with Nintendo, they either may not know about it or have other priorities. As long as Nintendo is doing something to protect and reinforce their copyright and trademark it stays theirs.

tl;dr Don't do it, Nintendo's inaction against others does not mean they give permission.

  • I'm not sure I get exactly what you mean, you talk about avoiding damage and then falling through platforms. Do you mean just avoiding fall damage if the player lands on his legs or something?

You could just make 2 "hit" boxes, one that is pinned to the upper-body for damage collisions and another set to the legs for platforming collisions.

  • C2 Swag would be cool, I would pick up a shirt.

Mini asset packs similar to what you get with a License would be helpful for prototyping. Nothing ridiculously fancy but just something that we can throw into our game for testing or even for some people to use in their finished products while still supporting Scirraa.

  • Hey everyone,

I just wanted to throw a shoutout to a quick example I made for a Random Item Generator. I uploaded it to the Arcade and put the capx there for download aswell.

Basically all you do is click create and it goes through deciding what the min-max damage should be, the element type and damage, and the stat bonus. The parameters can easily be changed and as I begin to use this in the game I am starting I will be sure to update it. (Even though my Paint skills are can cause envy, I will be changing them out eventually.)

EDIT: Of course I forget to put in the link! Link

  • I don't think a real roadmap would work for Scirra because of the way they rapid fire releases. Instead of saving up features and then being like here's version 100 with this.

The best thing they could come up with (which I think I saw somewhere before) is just a list of features that they are going to be adding in the future, in no particular order.

Personally I like the unexpected emails saying "Hey new feature here!" instead of the waiting continually for the roadmap marker to be hit.

  • Hello Jonny. I am based in the US and I have a huge interest to get Construct2 Games onto Win7 phone.

I think this would be a huge step forward not just for Construct2, but also for Windows 7. I personally did not have a problem with XNA, and actually liked it, but the visual element that Construct gives is just a huge leg up over just lines of code.

And to everyone who is frustrated about the US segregation, it is highly unlikely that it is Jonny's call on the issue. If anything at least be happy that Microsoft took notice and is actively trying to expand your potential audience. Good things come with time.
