  • I run a phpbb forum and yeah, all those captchas are pretty useless. What DOES work is the Q&A system. You can define simple questions that deal with the topic of the forum/site and it should be very effective. Like "What is Construct primarily used for?" You can define multiple valid answers. And it's built into the phpBB3 core already.

    EDIT: I just noticed I replied to an old thread. Haven't seen any bots spamming, so I assume the situation is under control anyway. xD;;

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I was going to suggest DirectX's DirectPlay, as that would provide a ton of features, including the ability to handle NATs. But it looks like Microsoft killed it...whyyyyyy. :C

  • FF4 RC

    Benchmark Score: 599

    Average FPS: 13

    Core 2 Duo E6600, Radeon HD 5770

    I'm not impressed. ):

    EDIT:

    IE9

    Benchmark Score: 2717

    Average FPS: 57

  • According to this page, Firefox 4 in XP uses Direct 3D for accelerating compositing, but not content rendering. So no HTML5 Canvas acceleration in XP. I'm not sure if that page is outdated, however.

  • IE9 ditched XP because much of that fancy GPU accelerated rendering cannot be done (well?) in XP. I've read that while FF4 works in XP, it falls back to software rendering, so it's not that impressive anyway.

I tried it and it seems nice. I'm still more used to the FF interface, so I'll probably keep using that.

  • Great work! It's very encouraging to see such rapid development. Keep it up!

  • Y halo thar!1 xd

I just graduated from university with a major in IT. Game development has been an on-and-off hobby of mine since I was about 13 years old, but it's not something that I ever pursued too seriously, so unfortunately I'm not an expert in this field. :c I started with TGF and moved on to MMF 1.5, but eventually I got annoyed with the bugs and gave up on it.. especially when ClickTeam published a bugfix for MMF 1.5, calling it MMF 2. :| A few years later, I found out about Construct, and while I've barely tried this software yet, it seems to me like a better version of MMF. :P Not having an extension similar to MooClick/Game, however, makes me quite sad. I liked coding multiplayer stuff in MMF. Oh well!

Construct 2's release got me excited, even though I'm no fan of HTML5 and I'm quite a bit disappointed because of that. The devs seem to be quite energetic about this project, however, so you can't help but feel that something awesome is going to come out of it, regardless. :P
