  • I will when have some time try to recreate it using only official plugins then but still would be a good idea to check at last... the problem is occuring because of C2 not the plugins, that's why I made 2 versions of the same bug one saved in 142 and the other in the newest one, one works and the other one don't.

    dropbox.com/s/fvfl63olfmhblhe/plugins.rar

Notes: you need to download the astar plugin, moveto and pathfinder behavior. (download above plugins.rar)

    Steps to reproduce:

1.If you dont have those plugins mentioned download the plugins.rar and paste the content inside the respective directory in the exporters folder.

    2. Download the capx and debug it, go to profile section to check the "attack, enemies & HUD" group CPU usage.

    3. start to walk with the character with arrows or WASD

    4. group will start to get very high cpu usage (will vary from 20 to 300%) and will freeze sometimes.

    5. You can download the pathfindingbug142.capx to check the same events and condition saved in 142 version running smooth without any problem or freezes.

    Observed result:

High cpu usage while walking with character, if you don't move, still the CPU usage is high and not correctly compared to 142 version for example.

    Expected result:

Testing it in old versions like 142 (download the 142 version above) and olders it won't cause any freeze or have high CPU usages, this is a basic pathfinding with simple functions, in my official project it has a lot of other things implemented and still it runs smoothly in 142 version or older.

  • Thanks as always, great way to check the news and improvements ;)

  • this happens in 142 too? if not.. probably is a good idea post it in the bugs session

  • I'm also having problems in 143, I made a post related to that, I think it's something about the changes in the "or" block

made also a topic in the bug reproducing the problem:

  • I made a topic in the bugs session please check it out

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open the capx and debug it

    2. Wait and it will start to increase the CPU usage after some seconds(check it in the profile section in the debug)

    Observed result:

As a result the CPU usage is increasing a lot, in bigger games the game will start to run slowly at 30 fps and keep consuming a lot of cpu usage.

    Expected result:

This problem is only occurring in the recent version of C2(143), it does not happen in older versions, the expected result as to run without that big cpu usage.

Some images to illustrate what is going on:

    <img src="http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/4087/q432.jpg" border="0" />

The problem is probably related to the "OR" that has changed in the last version (see capx to check the event it's very simple)

  • Guif0DA Do the relevant events use an OR block picking objects of the same type?

I've got a similar lag issue with an OR block used as a sub-event:

    Family Variable = value 1

    OR

    Family Variable = value 2

I'm not sure if it only effects families.

This consumes 50% of my CPU. If I disable one of the conditions the problem goes away.

Ashley I think this is related to the bug fix in R143 ("OR blocks which were sub-events to ordinary blocks did not always pick instances correctly")

The event that is causing the problem use an "OR", I will try to make an example demonstrating it when I have some free time ;)

  • what does the debugger show as consuming more cpu cycles?

got some interesting data while comparing cpu consume.. take a look

    <img src="http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/8686/nsxt.jpg" border="0" />

Ok something is causing alot of CPU Usage while using the latest version in the group "player controls", this group is very simple but I'm intended to find exacly what is causing that.

Edit: Okay I found the event and tomorrow I will try to create an example file demonstrating the problem, remembering that it only happens in the 143 version, all the older ones it works okay.

  • hmm, I didn't notice it, but that's concerning. Are you sure you didn't make any tiny changes to your project between versions? No I didn't changed anything

    Kyatric

I reinstalled the 142 version and the project is running at 60fps smoothly like in the older versions too so the problem is only occurring in the last version, 143.

  • Well I'm getting fps drops using the new version (143) while running my project, that did not occured while running with older versions, but your problem seems to occur with 141 version.. not sure if there is something common about that

  • Hey people, anyone else noticed the FPS being dropped while running your projects in the new version [143]???

I did not created the topic in the bugs session because I didn't discovered what is causing the problem, hope someone can spot the problem..

So as I 'said' to be honest I still do not know what is causing the problem, but I've reinstalled the 141 version and when I load the project it runs smoothly at 60 fps, if I try to run it with the 143 version after some few minutes it drops to 30 fps. [Older versions it runs okay too at 60 fps without any changes after several minutes]
