  • Hello Humanescape,

Thank you very much for your reply, which is very much appreciated. I want to apologize for my late reply.

You are correct about the file corruption when working directly in the cloud.

I have no problem with saving the project file on Google Drive and then manually upload the assets to Google Drive. Anyway the project file has its own directory, which I already did with C2. All the assets and resources are in directory "Assets". I just have to upload the "Assets" directory to the same level as the "Project" directory. Then I have a complete similar structure.

This laptop is from january 2009 with a 240 GB SSD drive which makes it fast enough to run Construct. It is in a constant lack of SSD space. So that is the reason why I cannot sync files on this laptop. Next year I will buy a ne laptop which will make a lot more possible.

Thank you again for your reply.

    Have a nice day.

  • I think I interprete Google Drive (Cloud computing) wrongly. I am not sure about how to work with Google Drive.

Saving and opening a Construct 3 project is easy and secure. I have no problem with that. However I want to work completely on Google Drive. That is, when I need a sprite, I import that from Google Drive too.

When I go to another computer which has nothing to do with my laptop, I open the project file (On Google Drive) and start working. Despite the laptop is not used, the resources must still be linked to the project.

I looked up a lot of information about Google Drive but cannot find what I am looking for.

I think a possible solution is synchronising the resources on my local disk with Google Drive.

I nicely structured the content of my Google Drive in directories, so I can easily find anything back.

Problem is that I am not experienced enough or have the necessary knowledge to find the solution myself. Also on the internet, I cannot find any usefull information how to use the Cloud together with Construct 3.

I hope anybody can help me, finding a solution.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi all,

I save my project directly onto Google Drive in a dedicated directory. I put a resource directory inside the parent Project directory. Into the resource directory I place image and sound files.

If I want for example import an image in the sprite editor, I double click the symbol and the import dialog opens. However, there is not way I can access the images inside their directory on Google Drive.

Do you know how I can import those images and sound in a project all stored on Google drive?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Friendly greetings,

    Chris

  • Like the others say, just doing it and see where you get stuck is usually the best way to success.

I am following Udemy courses on Construct 2 but am making them in Construct 3. In this way I got a very good idea about how things are done.

On this moment I am busy with the Udemy course, how to make a pinball game. A very interesting course even when it has nothing to do with the type of games I want to create (adventure, maze and puzzle). There is always something new to learn.

There are many excellent Construct 3 tutorials. LuckyRawathLucky his tutorials I find them very good. Many Construct 2 tutorials are still very usefull with Construct 3.

Personally, I like the creative process of making games. Especially the "thinking" and "planning" part are exited for me. In that stage, I come up with all kind of game play.

  • You seems in desperate need of a licence.

Construct 2 free version can be used for developing games. Your layer and event options are limited, however I followed Udemy courses about Construct 2 where only the free version would do.

Think about a good game idea which can work. Work that idea out and just bring it to life with the free version of Construct 2. Mission accomplished!

  • Nicely done Tiradentes, wish I was a student in your class.

  • Construct 3 is still in beta version. Are there not better ways to make money from your games than ads?

Personally, ads are very annoying and there are people like myself skipping anything which contains ads. Even when the ads are based on personal browsing. I don't click them.

Nevertheless, I want to pay for a good game without ads. I also do understand that good games do not come for free. I know that many people buying games expect them for free or as little as possible. But not everyone is this kind of buyer.

Regretfully, I see too many games who do not deliver on gameplay, challenge...

I like adventure games. Lookup at BigFishGames the games "The Island Castaway" version 1 and 2. They are nicely done, something which is also possible with Construct 2 and 3.

From the same BigFishGames I saw and played "Ruby Maze" which was made with Unity. I am surely not impressed with that game.

I am also not impressed with the event system of "Fusion" which was so highly praised by some people in the past. They mimick the event and behaviour system of Construct, however they poorly succeed. I have to tell you, I only tried the free version a few months ago.

Many people are claiming that the Scirra developers are not listening or responding to their userbase. Maybe people got that impression because they do not respond so often any longer on the forums. However, when you send an email to their support, they respond within 24 hours.

Could it not be that their development team is so busy with implementing the features you ask here, that they do not find the free time to respond here.

At least, give the Scirra team the time to implement new features and fix the reported bugs. When I understand correctly, they are now working on the initial basic version of Construct 3. When that basic version is completed, they are gonna step up on adding more complex features.

Scirra did not hide the fact that if you buy from the very beginning, you buy "beta" software. I agree yours and mine subscription is running, which has advantages and disadvantages.

The disadvantage is that we experience the bugs and are beta-testers. However the advantage is that we have the chance to learn Construct 3 inside out. We have an advantage over people who are waiting because from the moment Construct 3 comes out of beta stage, those waiting people have to learn the new features while we are already familiar with them. Then we can start building our commercial games which gives us a small head start.

I do understand "your" pain which is justified if you feel that way. It is an emotional reaction on something which does not go as expected. I am sure Scirra want us to make money, as much as they want to make money. Don't be too hard judging Scirra because the moment we receive the announcement that IAP, Admob and Google Play is working in Construct 3, you are gonna regret those hard words. And to be honest, I am expecting that message with one of the new updates in the future. Scirra does want us to make money from Construct 3 as much as they do.

Maybe a good idea to invest a little more time to marketing your games. Maybe you find new markets where people prefer games with no ads but for a higher price. The choice is yours.

I bought it from day one and I did not regret it.

Despite on this moment it is still in beta, I can use it and build up my knowledge about Construct 3. That is on this moment the advantage I have.

Anyway in its present state, Construct 3 is very usefull. I came accross some small things which did not work as expected, however the majority of features works very stable.

Personally speaking, I am happy that I bought Construct 3 from day one.

  • Hello everyone,

A few days ago I sent an email to Scirra support with the explanation of my problem. Today I received a reply with the answer to this problem from Julien.

Forcing a refresh by pressing "CTRL" - "F5" solved my problem.

I can now use Construct 3 both offline and online.

A special "thank you" to Julien, for his outstanding engagement and support.

    Wish you all the best!

  • Thank you very much for this very interesting tutorial. I just downloaded from YouTube. I will follow your tutorial later today.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Thank you for your reply which is highly appreciated.

I already expected that without a second language (PHP), Construct 3 cannot access a database on a server directly. Therefore I will look into a PHP solution to let Construct 3 accessing a remote database.

    Have a nice day.

  • Hello everyone,

Maybe a strange question I have here but I am thinking about making an online ordering system with Construct 3. Nothing to do with games.

In this online ordering system, no secure payments or any payments have to take place. It is only intended to register orders and then bundle them until a minimum order amount of 150 euro is reached. When this amount is reached the bundled order is actually placed.

The intention is that all employees can use this system on computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Therefore a central SQLite database needs to be created on a webhosting.

The whole solution will be hosted on a website space. From everywhere, people can register their orders.

For this solution to work, I need text fields, listboxes, radio buttons, checkboxes and OK, Save and Cancel buttons. Also saving to a permanent database somewhere on a remote website, should be possible.

What do you think, is this possible with Construct 3 and how to accomplish this? There is very little or no information found on this subject. I think this can be done in Construct 3 but I am not sure.

Any ideas are very much welcome and appreciated.

    Have a nice day.

    Chris
