  • This question gets out of the scope of this forum.

Using PHP is widely documented already over the internet. Please do a search on google or on a website like stackoverflow.com

For the "linking" with your C2 application, refer to the "how do I FAQ" (link in my signature), section AJAX.

  • Also please read this sticky post about modding official plugins.

  • The error message tells you that you need at least one instance of the object type in at least one layout of the project.

So you're probably trying, on some collision, to create some sprite without this original instance, causing the issue.

Create one instance of the object type somewhere in your project it should fix the issue.

Also, moving this topic, since it has nothing to do with scirra's website. C2 help requests are to be posted in either "Construct 2 general" or "How do I" forums.

Also consider providing a capx to make it easier to investigate the issues.

  • Tekniko: Pretty much yes.

It's not "absolutely" impossible, but it's pretty hard, and generally people asking are beginners who have no idea about the reality of the work it represents.

It's a kind of "reality" check.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • WaterlooErik: you probably should use only a single text object in your test, and set its text value to the system expression "renderer".

This way the text will display no matter what, but its content should vary between "canvas2D" and "webGL" depending on the current renderer.

  • IIRC, Ashley already mentioned something along those lines in the past, so I believe a "update current preview" is already somewhere on the todo list.

I wouldn't expect it "quickly" though, because I believe it represents quite some coding and maybe even rewriting major parts of the insides of C2.

  • I have extra code that references the parent when loading games in an iframe.

    adding javascript functions

    passing/referencing dynamic data

Are those things stuff you use/need in your game ?

If so, I guess you could use AJAX for passing/referencing and "parent" (?).

As for adding JS functions, use those functions in a plugin you made.

If those are irrelevant to the game itself, simply don't copy the index.html when copying your files to the destination site, rather using the HTML entry point file in there.

It is still not clear to me what you're doing exactly and why you need editing of the file. It sounds even like you shouldn't be editing it at all.

  • Audio support in C2 is dependent on the HTML5 audio support.

And that support is pretty restricted atm. It only allows playback, and options like speed of playback does not work in all browsers the same way.

Audio support has been widely treated in Scirra's blog (be sure to check in the archives)

XBOX live export is not likely to happen either.

The focus of C2 is and always has been HTML5. More than the fee you're mentioning, there is also a question of converting the exported projects to C# or a like-language that will then be compiled through other tools to be used on Xbox.

Scirra has also been talking about this in the past explaining that their resources (a two men British startup) could not be able to handle such export and if they did, they wouldn't be able to keep on focusing on HTML5 and bringing all the new features they do in their quick release cycle.

And for competitions, there weren't some in a while, generally they are announced in the stickies or announcements of the forums, post on top of the index list in "Construct 2 general" (or even through all the forums). They also are announced on Scirra's twitter (@Scirra) and facebook (link).

  • Hello to all the new comers.

It's still pleasant to see all the variety of people gathering on the website.

Doc, I moved your post in this thread, it's nicer to keep all those messages in the same spot.

For questions about C2, don't hesitate to post indeed in the "C2 general" nor "How do I" forums.

  • Attach the same event sheet to another layout.

Check my tutorial Asteroid in less than 100 events to see this process (and many others) described.

  • All: Thanks for the kind words <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • It make sense to keep the global design of the website.

In that design, game canvas are supposed to be contained within the layout of the webpage.

If the canvas was wider than the actual available size, it could visually break the design.

The arcade is being worked on by Tom anyway, at some point a new layout and less limitations should arrive.

The limitation preventing "many good games away" from the arcade, in my opinion, is the fact that you can't use third part plugins/behaviors, rather than the size of the game itself.
