  • You might find it advisable to read the manual. For instance, THIS SECTION deals with Boolean variables.

  • You still have the 'Stride' plugin in the Projects windows. Deleting this fixes the problem.

  • The answer to number 2 is because the Origin point for the 'Run' animation is in the center, whilst the rest of the animations have the origin set to the bottom center.

    Number 1 has 2 issues:

The first is that Event 9 should be a sub-item of Event 7, whereas you have made it sub to Event 8. Just drag it back or re-create.

The other problem is that you are missing a whole section from the tutorial that deals with 'Platform - On Landed' - see HERE.

That should then work as expected.

  • So you want Ashley to create a simulated debugging environment for all the devices that are out there? Really?

  • There is also this Match 3 tutorial HERE that may be useful.

  • Oh dear. What a pathetically childish thing.

    Grow up, Ashesh.

  • I love the old Lucas Arts P'n'C games, and adventure games in general, so inspired by your question, I've had a try in C2.

Here are some of my findings:

Using the pathfinding behavior makes navigating the classic P'n'C layout easy. Just block out the areas with solid walls and your character will find his way around nicely.

Add all the clickable objects to a Family then you can change cursor style when ever over them. You can change to extra styles using sub-events and variables, based on whether a particular 'Action' button has been selected e.g. Examine, Pick UP etc. This will also determine whether a message is displayed or an action performed.

Having a storage area for picked-up items has been covered many times in the FAQ.

Animations and interactions can be handled as they normally are.

In summary, I would say it's relatively easy to do these type of games, it's just not what people are generally 'commercially' interested in nowadays. Which is a great shame, IMO.

  • I really would advise you do Ashley's excellent platform tutorial first.

There are a lot of things wrong with this:

You have given both the Solid and the Platform behaviors to your main character, when you only need the platform.

The frames of your animation are of varying sizes. This is why you should do the tutorial first, as Ashley always recommends using a dummy sprite with the Platform behavior for use in collisions, and place your animations over it .

The Collisions points are all over the place.

The Origin point is also all over the place.

  • It really is worth paying for proper protection.

Even then, false positives are always a possibility, which is where sites such as Jotti are so useful.

  • Where have you downloaded it from? Are you sure it's not for Construct Classic?

  • There are 2 files needed for effects: the .fx file and the .xml file.

  • The file you provided has the 'Game Over' sound set to looping.

Set it to 'Not Looping', then press right mouse button whilst over the 'Life2=0' condition in Event 10 and select Add Another Condition. Select System/Trigger Once while true.
