  • It's not blurry at all for me in either the editor or when running the project. This leads me to think the problem lies with your graphic card driver.

  • Probably best to email Scirra directly regarding licensing issues.

  • Scirra has no control over whether Steam give a discount or not.

    *** Update ***

Have been informed by Alspal that:

[quote:2afd6x5x]Developers can now set their own dates for sales/discounts, if they desire to do so.

  • Have you altered the accessibility options or changed the Appearance and Personalization options?

My eyesight isn't perfect and I altered one of these settings once that seemed to break quite a few things, including browser displays.

  • That's exactly how a Tiled Background is meant to look, dependent on original image (https://www.scirra.com/manual/118/tiled-background).

The Tiled Background object will repeat the original image to whatever dimensions you tell it to, so if your original image is only 200 by 200, then you will obviously see a repeating pattern for such a large Layout size.

The trick is to choose a background that doesn't have such an obvious repeatable pattern. I only ever use either a single colour or a gradient when using Tiled Background for a background.

Conversely, a reason for not using it is it is very, very broken in certain areas, such as using 'or' and 'else', and large projects tend to crash a lot.

  • Save your project as a single file(,capx) and attach to your post. It's impossible to say what the problem is otherwise. It could be anything, such as from it on a hidden layer. But without seeing what you've done, it will be difficult to help.

  • There are other equally as good tutorials that include graphics, such as https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/243/building-a-platform-game-a-beginners-guide.

If you want to continue with Ashley's tutorial, just use any graphics as place holders. The event system and the basic mechanics are what's important when learning.

  • Which file?

If you are referring to the graphics used for the tutorial, then as described, they are part of the larger bundle when you purchase a license.

    Have you resolved this now?

Your window size is 854 by 480, and I was under the impression that the current maximum windows size width is 800px for the Arcade:

[quote:2n1hal2u]Upload your Construct 2 game file. The file must be in .zip format exported directly from Construct 2. All other file formats will be rejected.

Maximum size of upload is 10mb. Maximum width of the game is 800px.

Remember, this has no bearing on your Layout sizes, which can be as large as you like.

I don't get what you're saying - everything looks fine to me in Firefox, unless I'm missing something (always possible).

Any chance of a screenshot that shows the problem?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • You are missing quite a lot of the expected animations for both the character and the sword. Therefore changing animationframe in the 'Slashstyles' Group will not work.

It's a shame the original .capx is missing, but it is a 3 year old link. Maybe someone still has the original (guys!).

    ** Update **

I've checked the game in the Arcade that this is based on but it doesn't work for me, so I can't determine what the animations are meant to look like.

It may need some helpful soul to dig out the original .capx to see what the animations are meant to be, unfortunately.
