  • Okay, I am working on a game called "Crosshair", which centers around avoiding a snipers crosshair to prevent from getting shot, and as time progresses, the sniper speeds up, making it very difficult near 270 seconds...

I ran into a bug where if the sniper missed his shot, that he would reload. However, when I go into runtime, and when the triggertime variable reaches 0 (that's when he shoots), the animation plays after 750ms, but the player still dies, even if it isn't colliding with the sniper hitbox object, and all of the other parts of the ground and platforms are cut away, while the animation repeatingly loops over and over.

Here is a cap file: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DB0C0BOC

    Please help if you can!

  • I am absolutely stumped on how to correctly use the Plasma plug-in. If there is a tutorial topic somewhere or something, could you please link it to me?

  • Nightraid!

I finally remembered it. They have it over at Abandonia if you're feeling nostalgic (works fine under DosBox).

    YES.

Now I know what else to add:

    -Plane Debris

    -Helicopters

    -A fuckton more paratroopers

-A UFO or other random misc being that comes by and kills the landed paratroopers. Maybe sand monster?

  • Graaahhh!!!

"Paratrooper" (for the PC) was probably a big source of inspiration for this, but I remember a newer (but still old) tribute of sorts to the same game that had better graphics and sound.

    ...but I can't remember it's name.

    Damn you!!!

Seriously though, it looks like a fun throwback to old arcade gaming.

    YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

I played the better graphics one from the "250 Best Arcade Games" disc when I was a little kid, and I miss it. I cant remember the name either, so I added a wave quotation saying:

[quote:1sdrzqjv] "Fun Fact: This game is based off of a game I played a long time ago, and I cant remember the title. TELL ME WHAT IT IS OR I WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN."

If anyone can find the better graphics one, post it here or PM me it. I would LOVE to know!

(And if you don't find it, don't worry, I wont eat your children. )

[quote:130q5xfd]You play as a Military insurgent, who doesn't want to be a Military Insurgent, named Mike. He hates the military and his friend who dragged him into joining. So he runs away. The base he was stationed in was in the desert, so he had some trouble walking across the sandstorm that happened that night. He thinks he is about to die, but then, he finds an abandoned building. He goes inside and notices its a Anti-Air building, left to be demolished back in 2008. He goes to the controls and gets comfortable, putting his legs up on the desk, when he hears the scream of plane engines. He looks out and sees a Cargo plane passing over him. He then realized that this was the route for shipments to the base. "Perfect time for revenge!" He thought. He sat up and moved the AA gun's cross-hairs at the plane. He fired. the bullet flew into the wing and caused the plane to spin. A few seconds later, the plane exploded.

A couple of hours later, the general sends out some planes to find out what happened, only to loose contact with them as well. So he sends in all of the flight squadrons to eliminate whatever is killing their pilots. Of course, the general is a fucking moron, and doesn't send in ground forces. Now Mike is in deep trouble, and he refuses to surrender. He will send Hell up to the planes, and most likely never join the military ever again.

    ...That's when the game starts.

This game is not finished, but I thought it would be wise to tell you that I am making something with your program. Lol.

My Milestone Sub video I posted recently has some alpha gameplay footage in it:

Tell me what you think so far!

  • Search the forum. There are a lot of examples already.

Might check the wiki for how to use the ini... that's a pretty good starting point.

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Map+Editor+site%3Ascirra.com

    Ah, thanks.

  • Not sure exactly what your wanting.

Are you wanting to make an editor just using python scripting?

No, all I want to know is how to make the game save the objects on a layout in the game on a file on the PC and have a set title for the game to read, so then people can download custom maps and make them, and save me some time on level editing.

  • I wanted to create a map editor for me and other users for my games. My logic for it is this:

If the user saves the map, ask for a title to use in the New Game menu. After the user inserts the title, follow these operations:

-Save the object locations in a external file on the hard drive as a INI [or other preferred] file type.

    -Record the title.

    -Place in mapData folder.

After these operations, if the player goes to the new game menu to select a level, scan the folder and place readable map files onto the menu along with their title. If the player chooses a level, go to the main layout and place the objects at their defined locations, and run the game after loading.[/code:2f4b52s0]

How do I ask Construct to collect the data from the editor layout and save it as a file on the hard drive that it can read later?
  • 1.

Did you check "Auto Rotate" in the "Platform Movement" settings.

    2.

Try one of the play music actions.

    3.

Need a cap for this one.

1 and 2 are fixed. Thank you very much!

I'm debating on whether I should implement 3. or not, but its 12:08 so I wont really discuss much on that topic.

In case you are all wondering, The game I am making is called "The Exterminator". I shall make a separate thread for it in the near future!

Again, thank you. You guys are cool.

  • I have 3 problems. Some might be involved with Construct, others not so much.

    1.

I have a sprite with the Platform Behavior, so he can run and stuff. But he doesn't change direction? I have Auto-Mirror and Auto-Flip on, but to no avail.

    2.

I put a correct MP3 location for XAudio2 to use, but nothing plays.

    3.

I tried to do a Dynamic Head looking thing, where he and his gun would aim at the mouse seamlessly. I specified where the head would spawn (An Image Point), but it refused to spawn there. However, I did notice that when I fired the gun, the head went to the correct area for about a tick, then went back.

If I must, I will include a .cap, but only after someone asks, because I dont want others getting their hands on my cap file. The dynamic head thing was removed from the game atm, because it was annoying.

  • For some reason I had lots of trouble getting that to display.

Weird, DA always had such nice code.

Finally got to read one of them (hide and seek gone wrong) but I stopped when I realized it's not even remotely game-related.

    Sorry XD

Who said it had to be about video games? This IS Open Topic. Lol.
