Could someone please tell me how to import the models correctly?.Whenever i import a .obj file the view of the model looks wrong.should i change the xyz axis when i create the 3d models in blender?.

Try to make the file a tga file.And for png please keep the colors at 24bit or higher.

Have you ever tried click & play an oldskool games creator which has 32 angles.A sample would be like 0,45,90 degrees angles etc.. for the sprite.

The best 3d rendering software i would say is daz3d , Its freeware and you get all the base characters to download for free.It uses mocap bvh files in which you can animate and then render the animations to separate png files.
