  • I feel like we are dealing with multiple personality disorder here. I feel bad that one person was harsh to him which set him off, but if you are online on forums long enough you have to learn to have some thick skin and take criticism (sometimes constructive.. sometimes not).

To Vdrake... move on ... so people didn't like your post.. big deal. Make a cool game, become a expert here (or someplace else) and you will have no problem finding people to make games with you..

oh and secure your sh1T! It's pretty easy to make sure nobody else posts on your account, unless it is one of your other personalities.

  • When you enter the game, you have the option to be the server, or join as a client.

Very cool Zaaephod! Nice to see this capability being used and tested. Maybe we can fix some of the Python quirks you are finding.

Also, Lucid's PY plugin turned out to be a very handy tool for dealing with picking, and multiple instances of objects within python.

Great plugin. Here is a link to list of plugins that include the python fix plugin

Looking forward to seeing some network games soon!

  • I haven't downloaded any newer versions beyond .84

You should definitely try the latest version then... if not for stuff like the Else bug fix. It is quite a bit better than .84. .

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • That we can also create AAA Commercial titles

I see Sagal's point. You come off as sounding like you are already in the game business and have programmed commercial quality games before, but didn't bother to post any references to your games.

I do like your artwork though. I'd recommend you post more details and info on the games you've made before. With the current level of detail all you will get are noobs wanting to join up, not gurus. Also, I'm a big fan of Python scripting but why is an expert necessary for this project? Just curious.

  • I think you posted on this thread about this:

Also, it would help to know what type of video file you are trying to play. Not all Python libraries support the same codecs. But to answer your questions:

*What version of Python is compatible with Construct 0.99.62?

None. .99.62 has broken Python support.

    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/c ... _Scripting

From the wiki: you need at least .99.84 to have correct Python support. Although, I would recommend the latest version as I think it fixes a few more Python integration bugs.

The version of Python to use is the 2.6 Python version listed in the Python Quickguide on the wiki.

*Is there a guide for installing Python into Construct?

See tutorials on wiki about using Python external libraries.

*Is there any code examples available in any Python resources that will show me how to code >>>video into Construct?

You will probably have to use Pygame or Pymedia and there are several examples on those sites with sample Python code. It is not the simplest task though as you need to overlay a Pygame (or other libraries) window over a Construct window. I don't think anyone has tried it yet.

    Good luck!

  • Yeah, I'm loving these feature packed and frequent updates as well! Nice work devs!

  • Anyone who's tried it, can you manually edit the Java as well?

Very cool looking program.. I've been trying to decide if I should get an Andriod phone but I have AT&T and it doesn't look like they have any good ones right now.

About editing Java, I looked at the FAQ and it said that the App Inventor does not output Java code so the answer is no.

  • it gets really wonky whenever I try using it within a Construct plugin

Any details on the wonkyness? Does it try to steal the main loop for processing or is it something more minor that isn't working? I know very little about the SDK so not sure if I'd be much help. I was going to try making a simple screen capture plugin just to learn more about it.

  • hence could pick any compiler.

Let's try to keep requests in the realm of possibility. I believe Construct 2 will support writing run-times for different platforms.. but that is drastically different than supporting some type of editable output file that can be compiled on any system. Hopefully, you meant the former and it is something planned way .. way down the road.

  • Maybe some minimal requirements just so it doesn't get overloaded with one level ghost shooter clones or something.

Second this as well. The game has to have some "substance" and "polish" to it and be considered "finished" (at least as a polished demo). Not trying to be elitist but the point would be to reduce the clutter from games that people threw together in 1 day.

  • I second this.. a thread for fully completed games. Would be fantastic especially since some of the better ones get lost after a few months. For example, Standard Waiver by Radix is an old favorite of mine.. really spooky with all that heavy breathing and 3D view.

  • I can confirm as well weird behavior with the Wait object. I was using it for online games and got strange behavior, but I wasn't able to pinpoint exactly what the bug was. I'll try to use it again to work out some of the bugs. This is definitely a useful plugin so it would be nice to have it working!
