The river boat problem in 2D relative motion is a classic problem that involves analysing the motion of two objects, such as a boat/swimmer and a riverbank, in two-dimensional space.

The problem typically involves calculating the relative motion of the boat/swimmer with respect to the riverbank, considering factors like velocity and time. To solve this problem, we use vector addition, decomposition, and projection techniques by breaking down the motion into x and y components, then apply the relevant equations of motion to calculate the relative position, velocity, and crossing time of the boat.

*Bonus: it calculates accurately the launch angle when river velocity is greater than boat/swimmer velocity.

Instructions

The "Reset" button brings the simulation to its initial position. You can start or stop and continue the simulation with the other button. If you choose the option "Slow", the movement will be 4 times slower. You can vary (within certain limits) the values of eccentricity, orbital speed and semimajor axis.
