    > Tom / Ashley . Can you just give us what is covered in the free version? Most people yapping might not even need the subscription features, and can be fully contented with the free version. Unity free is decent, would C3 be the same? We all love to see the Free vs Paid feature list. I don't want to poke you against unity https://blogs.unity3d.com/2016/06/05/subscription-why/, on why they went through a subscription model, then went through a pay to own.

I think Tom mentioned that the free version will let you open projects, but not edit them or export the game... which imo makes it pretty much worthless

This is wrong, the free edition will have limits. You can work and edit games in the free edition up to those limits. If you open a project that exceeds those limits, it will be in read only mode.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hmm nice trick there!

  • Great question and something we haven't actually considered! Just had a quick look online, and seems like it's not possible in CSS to position scrollbars to the left of the container.

I think there would be some aspects of the UI you could change to be more left hand friendly when it's released with CSS.

I said none of those things, you've misunderstood somewhere along the line. Closing and renaming thread to stop any confusion.

So Tom it will be $99 and $99 a year after that for people without a license. $49.50 the first year if you have a license and then $99 a year.

    Is that correct?

    Yes that's correct.

If that is an auto subscription renewal I can already see parents screaming when they did not expect that ongoing bill when little Johny thought he was getting a one time purchase. May even raise legal issues.

Saying there are legal issues is pure speculation that we're going to do something intentionally illegal, which of course we would never do.

ADDED: We are seeing alot of error messages and slow uploads and game loads in the arcade. Is there a server issue or something hanging things up?

Will look at this on Monday when I get in the office. One thing we're spending a lot of money and resources on is our web infrastructure going forwards with C3, we've got some announcements about that in the near future.

Tom - what if i take C3 in 2 years from now on? i am a C2 user, do i get that first year of using for 50% since i jumped from c2 to c3 in 2 years or

do i have to buy for 99% in 2 years? is that just for this (2017) year buyers?

The direction we're going is that you can exercise your 50% discount whenever you want, this year, or next year etc.

Please keep it civil everyone, there's no need to be sniping at each other.

For current Construct 2 license holders, first year is 50% off. This means you'll be able to use Construct 3 for a year for $49.50.

  • EDIT:

You know what? Frak that. That's enough. That was the last straw. I'm Out.

No problem, you're free to do as you wish. Good luck.

Here we go again cant use construct 2 without third party compiler now can use Construct 3 without one more add third party software with it... One more headache on the Compiler one we all have already. Here i was thinking that Subscription was the only Bad News but a new third party need... WHO DID REALIZE THAT WE NEED a third party Browser on top of what we have already Cocoon and Intel XDK, remember WHEN we have compiler BUG and we post it on Scirra.com Tom and Ashley say they cant do nothing about it so we get #^%$ NOW when Chrome or Firefox or which every not working lol

I'm struggling to understand your post, do you have a question?

  • > Am I right in saying your initial concern was that a new update to Chrome could stop Construct 3 working?

    >

So your saying there will be no breaking C3 no matter what Chrome does, just turn the wifi off and it run offline.

New browser updates should not affect offline versions of C3, and for online versions we'll have a long lead on updates as they are released through Canary first.

[quote:199hgui8]And if this is the case then why do we need to run it in Chrome since it can work without it?

A lot of people seem to be upset that there's the option to run it in the browser or on the mobile. Even if it's not something you're going to make use of, can you not understand that others might see benefits from it and it's a nice to have feature?

Forex is complicated and very volatile at the moment which is why we've only announced USD pricing.

  • Am I right in saying your initial concern was that a new update to Chrome could stop Construct 3 working?

This thread is starting to get personal so am locking it. Please be civil to each other.

Locking this thread as it's obviously run it's course.

For me it had to be pay once. From reading on what C3 will bring compared to C2 it just doesn't give enough to warrant a £99 a year subscription. Game making has always been a hobby for me so I guess C3 just isn't for me. It's a shame as I have enjoyed the interface despite the export setbacks. Native android export would be the only thing that sold me on a yearly sub for C3 but we know that isn't in the plan.

Just to clarify it's $99 USD not £99. I know this might not change your opinion, but just want to clear that up for anyone else reading.
