Tom's Forum Posts

  • People who want to do something more serious than single-day games, look at the engine's capabilities and the policies of its authors, shake their heads

    What policies specifically?

The authoritarian approach has its positive sides

Don't mistake directness for authoritarianism. I really don't see how anyone can say any one on the team is authoritarian.

  • Actually i purchased C3 prior to the discount message and sent in an email to ask if i could get a refund on my purchase, never got a response, probably "lost in the email" world

We strive to answer every email promptly, yours should of been replied to. Do email us again or me directly on tomrxo@scirra.com and I'll look into it for you.

  • Old forums are not coming back, but let me see if I can fix those 404's.

  • Ads no longer show for logged in users.

Also, all post formatting should now be fixed as much as possible. There will be an issue with VERY OLD post links.

  • All pricing can be found here:

    construct.net/make-games/buy-construct-3

If you have a C2 hash, enter it here:

    construct.net/profile/my-discounts

You may be entitled to a discount on C3 if you purchased C2 previously.

  • Is there no way to extend that deal to everyone who bought construct 2 but that didn't get the message?

It's still active for everyone who's eligible. If you have a Construct 2 hash, enter it here:

    construct.net/profile/my-discounts

Also I don't want to skip over this, What's the deal with Construct 2? Will you keep supporting it like you said you would or is it just Construct 3 now?

As we've said on multiple occasions we're continuing to fix bugs in the engine and push out releases. However, all new feature development will be going into Construct 3.

Construct 3 has been out for about 1 year now. Since we've released it, we've pushed out 17 new Construct 2 builds:

  • When are the ads gonna be removed? I still see them.

Next update later today most likely, but possibly Monday.

The arcade is, and always has been provided as a free "As-Is" service with no promises of up-time or availability. It is on my list of things to look at fixing when I am able.

There are other places you can host your game in the meantime (eg Newgrounds).

  • The tab group feature is borken when you put lists inside

    • Borken

      • Each
      • Word
      • Should
      • Be
      • Displayed
      • Vertically

    • Werk around

      - just

      - put

      - dashes

      - manually

Dunno if we are supposed to report forum bugs here though.

    Thanks, fixed for next upload.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • What's the point of making Construct 3 other than finding a way to charge people again for the same product? To me it looks like nothing more than a UI graphics update

Lots of changes are documented here:

    construct.net/make-games/new-features

Also, the new runtime will be in Construct 3 only which offers significant performance improvements.

If you wanted to sell a product that wasn't the same thing as construct 2 you could of at least offered some kind of deal to people who owned construct 2 and encouraged people to switch but you didn't.

We did. All Construct 2 license holders up to a certain date received between 50% and 100% discount on their initial year of Construct 3.

  • It's taking longer than expected as we're still waiting on Rackspace to create a new server for us to run the script on (I requested it around 4 days ago). Please be patient.

  • Hello, why sometimes (other times it does not happen) when I write a message in the forum I get the notice ?:

"Your thread must be approved by a moderator ..."

Posts going into approval state are when Akismet (an anti spam service) believes there's a chance your posted content is spam.

If you're under 10 posts, Akismet check always happens.

Your post count means there's a 1% chance your post will be Akismet checked. Of that 1%, it will only go into approval if Akismet thinks there's a chance it's spam.

Over 1000 posts, the chance Akismet check is 0.5%.

  • Alright you guys win, I'll disable them if you're logged in. I think that's a good compromise?
