  • I've added more years to the forum search in the next update so you're not restricted to 1y max.

We're skipping across a lot of issues here:

should it be the community to carry the burden of customer service?

No, but the forum is a nice to have that pretty much every other game making software has. It's an extra you are not obliged to use.

Ofcourse, without a thriving community, when the manual would be lacking

This is as far as I am aware, up to date. Note, manual is NOT for "how-to" guides it's a very specific document documenting features in Construct 3.

    Which manual entries are missing?

The Construct Team should tend these forums with TLC.

Search could probably be improved, what else needs TLC in it?

  • Vanelloppe18 please keep posts English as per the rules, I'm afraid the forum is English only.

  • And when I have 'Relevant' selected I always get posts that are from 10 years ago and completely irrelevant.

Did you try the date filter?

  • Games are client side, you wouldn't want to directly connect to a DB through your game. You'd want to create a service and post AJAX requests etc to your service.

  • If you click on a tag it will show you all content tagged the same

  • The tags you’re using all start with a hash #, this is not needed. It’s a bug allowing that character!

They won’t be removed if you omit the hash.

  • It’s under the community sub menu. There’s a lot of information and links to fit in the menus and what we have is a good compromise as far as I can see.

  • Hi, sorry it's taking a little longer to implement than originally planned but is in the works. In the interim, you can search using Google with a query such as:

    site:construct.net/en/tutorials beginners guide

    Example here: google.com/search

  • We've talked about this before. If we allow usage of older versions in this way, we would have a responsibility to patch these old versions when there are breaking changes or bugs identified. Keeping as many users as possible on the latest version speeds up development, simplifies maintenance and reflects better on the product in the long run.

  • Educational editions are only permitted for purchase by educational institutes, not individuals.

  • that's understable. But a lot of places simply don't allow refund when using the internal credit. With an extra steep of "if you understand this, proceed?" will make it a lot more easy for every construct developer.

It's really hard to process a refund or handle a dispute if the payment for something is taken from multiple sources. Basically, lots of edge cases and difficult to handle situations for not much real benefit for us unfortunately.

I believe for similar reasons a lot of other stores have similar policies.

  • Scirra store is part of old website - plan is to move it over to Construct.net eventually.

We could of sold the license through Scirra.com, but it would be very difficult and time consuming to add. Looking long term, everything is moving here so decided to go this route and split it off for now.

RE credits earned for selling items in the Scirra store, we do not and probably will not ever allow you to spend this credit on your subscriptions or other items in the store. The reason for this is although it seems like a good idea - from an accounting point of view this is very hard and time consuming to process especially when sales get refunded, the original sale is charged back etc etc. Basically introduces a whole host of extra edge cases which are very hard to account for, and time consuming to accommodate!

Ultimately it would cater for a minority of users, with a disproportionate overhead from us.
