  • you have your solution in your drawing! :)

use 3 square sprites(set them invisible of course during runtime ) and place them along your trampoline surface.then say

Player on collision with "left sprite"

and platform is falling                    set platform y -500

                                               set platform x -200

Player on collision with "center sprite"

and platform is falling                    set platform y -500

Player on collision with "right sprite"

and platform is falling                     set platform y -500

                                               set platform x 200

  • You can read about timers in the manual

Another easy way would be to add a system wait command

On key pressed ..... disable platform behavior

                          wait 5 seconds

                          enable platform behavior

  • If you don't have the money to buy a construct 2 license how on earth will you find 4000$ that is rumored to be the cost of the dev kit?

    I smell something fishy here...

But good luck with whatever you are trying to achieve !

  • Ashley

i am almost certain that they are 100% the same performance wise.but i guess only our software guru can answer this!

  • i had the same question a while back and after some snooping around i think that the pin behavior is just a

every tick+Set position to another object+automated coordinates(x,y)because you visually "pin" it to the other object.

  • PixelRebirth

Let me be a little more clear about this.my main concern is not performance.as I have written before in this forum this will solve itself out soon.

Lets say you create the perfect mobile game.it works perfectly. After one week you get reports of a crushing bug. You correct it ,try to upload your game again and apple has changed something in their framework. From in app purchases to the way the ios supports html.

What do you do? you are literally destroyed as a studio. You have no way to fix this since you don't have control over your code and you pray at ludei or intelrobert to do something about it.

Do you believe this a viable plan for a serious game developer?

That's why the guys need to step up so we can have someone to blame if our game does not work ??

  • PixelRebirth

Thank you for your link and in the end of the day who are we to tell the future of multi billion company's.

But I have to disagree with you to the fact that c2 is pretty good at making mobile games.

As a tool is the best. But the fact that it does not support an official working exporter drives away many small and medium studios. If you had 50k to invest on creating a game would you from a business standpoint use c2 ? I would not since I have no guarantee that it would work. I would use that money to hire a programmer and go unity or whatever.

See what I am saying? For the individual that spends 100 euro its more that perfect. But not in the real world where money is involved.

That is the reason I am saying to the guys to focus on one exporter either mobile or console that works and they have full control and responsibility for it

  • Ashley

For me it is quite obvious the way you should proceed. From a business standpoint with Nintendo if something does not change soon ,they will end up a software company like Sega .they are very still attached to the old Japanese ways of running a company. Secrecy. something that used to hold true back in the days where everything moved slower ,but now this is just not the case. on the other hand the fact that they have an almost nonexistent library of games and almost no third party support creates good opportunities for indie developers since their customers are simply thirsty for games.

As I asked in another post and you answered , what would be like to work with them?

    Now one knows. Yet..

You safest bet would be to go with Sony and Microsoft. Powerful machines that will run html NOW the way its meant to be, huge user base ,online stores that actually work and at least with Microsoft (I don't know how Sony works) you can strike some sort of deal with them that would be beneficial for both your customers and you .

Think about it for a second.

You have created something that allows people to create games in a fraction of the time it takes to do the same by other means and you can't do anything with the finished product.in mobiles it might work(performance wise) it might not. And even if it does there is no standardized way for controls, in app purchases, ads etc. if you create a good game you can only hope steam will publish it, otherwise you can't sell it anywhere.

    Now imagine your new ad.

Construct 2 .create games for xbox one wiiu and ps4 with no programming.

Full support for their controllers, in app purchases ,online gaming and their motion sensing technology.

You would sell licenses for 1000$!

Read your customer comments in the forums .I bought construct for mobile games and it is not working on my phone, it is slow it is this it is that...

With the other way if it works on your dev kit it works.period.

No excuses no nothing.and when you make yourself a name as a "serious" tool you move on to mobile.

  • Ashley

i do understand NDAs but how can we ,the customers of a game creation software know if it is worth it or not to invest a few thousand dollars for something that might have the same performance and problems as lets say ,cocoonjs?

shouldt you as a company be able to tell your customers what is and what is not?

  • Beaverlicious

i lost you there with the car example :)

what i am trying to say is that it is better to have one perfect exporter at a time than 10, that half work.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • i personally believe that the exporter for the Nintendo is a good step forward on the right direction.

    why the right direction?

although i understand that only a few people will ever use it because of the high cost, it does give the option to a small company to produce something in a true gaming environment with known hardware ,controller and capabilities and of course the fact that 100% who bought the console are potential buyers.

my biggest concern right now with mobiles is exactly this problem. hundreds variations of speed ,screen ,input, size etc.

although i am not a programmer i believe that creating an exporter for fixed hardware with a lifespan of over 7 years is easier to achieve than mobile operating systems that change every few months.

so if i was head of scirra what i would do?

push for all next gen consoles exporting capabilities so i would give my "serious" customers a fighting chance to make some money in a highly profitable environment with no designing challenges. if it works on your dev kit it works on all consoles!and as a company it would be relevantly easy since the big boys provide everything to make it happen.

then i would focus on a single mobile exporter.either android or ios. not both of them.

one step at a time and when everything is perfect i would move on to the next one.

i love the fact that the average joe can create something and upload it to the app store and brag about it to his friends and family and is really a wonderfully thing.

but right now if someone wants to really invest his time, talent and budget with c2 he will have a hard time to make any money and there are so many ways that his game will not perform well(i am talking about mobile).

that's why consoles are a good way to go with an official mobile exporter later on that it will include all the bells and whistles of that particular platform.

  • Tom Ashley

i believe all .capx files should be collected automatically from you guys and stored on your server so they can be available for all present and future searches by all forum members.i do not believe that take all that much space on your server and bandwidth shouldn't be high.i mean how many .capx files are downloaded daily?

  • Guizmus

    Thank you for the clarification.

  • Guizmus

    thank you for your effort!

    one question:

why do we need regenerate pathfinding obstacle map and what does it do?

  • I am a former Victoria's Secret model that's gone fat and now I am pursuing a new career in video games.the upside to this is that I will never have to socialize again within Justin Bieber and Kayne west!
