  • Hi im Dylan im 33, i live in Wales,uk .

    I was inspired to learn how to make games after seeing a video of the creator of jet set willy, and how insane it made him and the homecomputer programmers of the 80s.:P

    Im Learning alot here, i never realy thought i could make games without a degree in maths, so im naturally very excited :)

    Im also very much into Christian theology, and just "life in Christ" in general, which has blown my mind and ive been writing music for year, inspired by all kind of music, especialy some of the games ive played such as planescape torment and fallout1/2.

    great to be here :)

    im inspired and hope i can inspire some day soon !!

    im also currently trying to learn some amstrad cpc basic which im finding alot easier since ive been exposed to contruct 2 tbh :)

  • i press space to shoot, so do i have to put that command 4 times with the angles? could you do a quick example?

  • Right, this is driving me insane and i know it has been asked to death, and ive read the lot.

    But i still dont get it ... i have a overhead shooter with 4 directions of movement..(thunderforce 2 inspired)

    how do i fire in the direction im facing ? surely it cant be as complicated as some examples..arrgh just when you think your working stuff out :P

  • i agree about the Book, but no believers people wont touch that with a barge pole...so im trying to present the book (to them, with no entry level requirements such as the Holy Spirit) for what else it "really is" The very highest Greek and Hebrew parallelism, poetry, allegorical/ metaphysical, sounds a bit more spaced out :P

    i believe we have a pretty unique take on Jonah, using a social networking website called "O.R./C.A." (GET IT ) as the whale(Fish) that consumes you and eventually you end up saving the world :P ...its crazy, but man, what an exciting challenge... i wrote this intro story today in our Churchs food bank ..

    very exicted about this, got 3 of us working on it (the the people who have been helping me on this forum :D so so so so grateful :)) now and thinking of paying some homebrew types in russia(alot)to try and make a sega megadrive version

  • thanks again, that is great, i did work out a rather cruder way of doing it ... but great to see it so simple in a few lines, awesome seems to all be about the *

    i have another big problem ... in a new game mechanic you have to collect things (office workers !?)...but after you go into the random events (speedruns) the things you have collected reappear :P even though i have set them to destroy upon collection heres a capx...

  • ok, this has come one hell of a long way

    there are now 2 of us working on this, myself and a graphic designer..

    i want to thank everyone whos helped me special thanks to Kyatric, kittywan and nimtrix

    controls are cursor keys but you can use space if you want to escape a "speedrun"

    if you complete speedruns you lvl up and the glitches that cause the runs are less frequent(every 5 lvls)..

    the aim of the game is to meet a girl you got a date with , unfortunately you get caught up in the prototype testing of some new mind control program

  • ok sprite 1 (for example) spawns at a certain rate ....but when you touch sprite 2 you "level up" and that changes the rate at which sprite 1 one spawns (slower rate ).... how could i do this ...?

  • thats awesome thanks alot, thats been such a stumbling block to me ...

    could you just help me with on more thing...

    touching those random blocks (which will be invisible) sends you to a speedrun action section but, on completing that, what would commands would i use to get my guy to start of in exactly the same place he left ?

    it would be great if you could show me that ... that would pretty much be the mechanics of my game :)

    hmmm dunno if its the scrolling but despite using your commands they still seem to be spawning in the same area...not spread out and over the shadowy sprite
