  • there's no plugin, but you can do it with a formula:

    clamp(((floor(lerp(('maxnumber')-('minnumber'),0,distance(radiussprite.x,radiussprite.y,othersprite.x,othersprite.y)/(radiussprite.width/2))/('numberofcircles'))+1)*('numberofcircles'))+('minnumber'),('minnumber'),('maxnumber'))

    here's an example cap:

if you can't load it, get the latest version of construct here:

Thanks for the example, lucid. But there was one problem: The minnumber was set to 10, meaning if you were outside of the radius, the variables would still go down by 10. Setting it back to 0 fixes the problem.

(My main intention for this was to make a explosion splash damage thing. Thanks BTW. )

What I had in mind for a cool and useful plug-in or feature. A big circle cut into rings, where if a object is within this ring, it increases this variable. The further in, the bigger the number. Here are some attributes for it as well:

MinVariableNum: The smallest number allowed for variable scaling.

MaxVariableNum: The largest number allowed for variable scaling. Is also Base Variable

GeneratedRings: The total rings the circle can be cut into. Limited at 50.

GeneratedSize: Scalable in the layout editor, this just tells you how big it is right now, and can be edited here as well.

This is just an idea/Concept. I don't know if there is something like this already, but if there is, tell me.

  • The look and feel of this one is really great, reminds me of an idea I had a few years ago that never came to fruition!

Is the sound of the ball altered by adjusting the frequency?

Actually yes, it is. And thanks for the nice comment

I made a big desc. in a video not to long ago, so here is a copy of it:

    Game (WIP): Binary Ball

    Genre: Puzzle/Shooter

    Story:

The game takes place in the year 2145. The world of computers has been crippled by the newest virus, claimed and proven to have the ability to shut down all the computers world wide permanently. The government decided that it is time to reveal their ultimate Anti-virus program, with an advanced A.I., and Virus Detection System. This was called "Binary Ball". Binary Ball was given to a PC Gamer with much knowledge about computers. During the night, he activates the program to run a full scan on the PC...

The game takes place during the scan, you go through different levels, representing different folders, solving puzzles, and shooting viruses, while in search of the Unknown Virus that could end the future of computers as we know it...

...Okay enough story crap, this is just a engine test for the game I described above. It is FAR from 'done'. So don't ask for a release date just yet...

Here are some abilities you can use in the game:

    -Flashlight (WIP)

    -Light up dark areas [Done]

-Discover Hidden Objects that are nearly invisible.

    -Lantern (WIP)

-Light areas far from your location or unreachable areas

-Use as a grenade to destroy distant enemies or switches

    -Shock-wave (WIP)

-Destroys almost all nearby enemies. (Uses half energy)

    -Activate Shock-wave Floor Switches

    -Speed Boost (WIP)

-Boost forward with great speed. Useful for destroying Virus controlled Firewalls.

-Get to places faster, I guess...

More abilities will be added when I think of one or two more...

This can and will be adapted on, so if you have any ideas, post them in!

Or, if you want to help design the game, email me at

  • Thanks guys! Got it working right.

The only reason a Decimal was used is because construct added it automatically...

I will keep this information in Future Reference Notes on my hard drive.

  • I am creating a Generator that can randomly generate two people that exist on the source engine, and have their names display on the screen so people can make fights in Gmod with the two characters and upload them to Youtube.

I have it set so it randomly generates a number, 1 through 5, using "random(1.5)". However, the generation button doesn't work. It stays at "Unset".

    Here's a cap file: http://www.2shared.com/file/PJzsaUfG/GFSIG.html

Help will be credited in the release once I finish it.

(Dont worry, I am also using this to make games... XD)

  • Very nice Phobos, i love the sound of the ball rolling around . Also that's some nice lighting you got going on there.

It's a placeholder sound until I get an original sound created in Audacity. (Copyrights, I believe...)

But the other sounds are custom made by me, such as the energy sound effect. (It's actually my voice, ran through some filters. )

Its called Binary Ball, the story is you play as a Anti-Virus Program called "Binary Ball", which was created by the government and sent to a beta tester. The reason the government made this is cause a new "Super-Virus" that hasn't been named yet was created, and could crash all computers worldwide. Binary Ball also has a Extremely Good A.I., so it can operate the computer all on its own, and figure out if something is actually a virus or not.

Gameplay is where you have to get to the exit portal in a level, by solving puzzles and killing all the viruses in the level. There are also boss-viruses, such as the Trojan-horse, and rootkit viruses.

That light in the last picture is one of the many Energy abilities I plan to make for the game. That one not only helps see in the dark, but it also helps find Hidden Objects.

I only made this level as a test. It might or might not be part of the actual game. xD

  • Use XAudio2: Set channel 2 position to 0 seconds directly before you play the channel.

    Krush

    Oh, thanks

  • I wrote in the event editor, that when it collides with a certain object, it plays a certain sound. My problem is that it only plays the sound Once. Is there a way to have it play every time I come in contact with the object?

Heres a picture of the events.
