  • I missed out on the early adopter discount the last time round because I was a silly slow loris. I have taken advantage of Scirra's generosity this time though. I just bought a licence! Where's my badge?

    r100 looks awesome and I bought Spriter a while back so I am looking forward to using both these awesome programs together when that great day finally comes...

  • .... So that a user can insert their own image into a game?

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Edit:

    Just to elaborate on this a bit. I know how to make an image upload button in html to enable an image to be stored in a folder but I don't want the sprite to be changed permanently when a user uploads an image. I just want to replace a sprite for their session.

    Could it be done with the web storage object?

  • The address bar disappears when you add the app to the homescreen and launch.

  • Hi Ashley,

    You are right. I don't know what I was thinking. Of course it will run quicker with a smaller canvas. Doh!

    My baby son has my head a bit frazzled at the moment due to lack of sleep...

    Anyway, I tried fiddling with hog2 after looking at hand of greed. Adding these seems to work really well on my iphone:

    <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; minimum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;"/>

    <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />

    <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black-translucent" />

    Edit: Obviously you cant zoom in or out but it definitely works better for an app. The address bar doesn't disappear like it should though....

    I will work it out.

    The fps shot up to 15 when I rotated it. It seems to like it.

    I can't wait to install IOS5

  • Those results are on my iphone 3g.

    These results are on my wife's iphone 4

    hog1: 23fps

    hog2: 49fps

    Anyone got an ipad?

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hi Ashley,

    I have added the FPS as suggested and the results are:

    hog1: 12 fps

    hog2: 30fps

    What do you think it could be?

    Cheers,

    Marc

  • Hi all,

    Just wondered if someone else with an iphone could take a look at the following examples and let me know if they see a speed difference:

    1) http://www.sundriedspacemonkey.com/hog/hog1.html

    2) http://www.sundriedspacemonkey.com/hog/hog2.html

    I have just made a few changes to the html file. Number 2 doesn't specify the width or height of the canvas and definitely seems quicker on my iphone. I am not sure why it resizes to the size it does as the js file still specifies 500 by 500.

    I played Hand of Greed and wanted to see how fast I could get C2 to perform.

    Hand of greed is rapid and it is a html5 and javascript web app. The only difference I can see is that the images are specified outside of the js file.

    Check it out on the following link. You will need an iphone though.

    My phone is the original 3G but my wife has an iPhone 4 and I noticed a speed difference on that too.

    Thanks guys,

    Marc

    P.S. I only removed the link as it was a test. In a real project I would keep the link intact cause I loves C2 I does and I really appreciates it...

  • No worries Ashley,

    As soon as the licenses become available, I'm in.

  • Just a quick post to address anyone with doubts about buying the early adopter license and investing in Construct 2.

    This software has so much potential. Just looking at the achievements and advancements of the previous version (although unfinished) should be enough to make you all open your wallets (and set the moths free) for these guys.

    I have previously invested in alpha version software when I bought the pro version 3D Coat for 30 and have been rewarded with almost weekly updates by an extremely passionate developer. Now the software is out of Alpha and Beta it is now 217 for pro. I had to pay around 50 to upgrade to version 3 but I have also earned over 700 (3D is my sideline - I am a freelance web / graphic designer) from work created for clients from it so I really cant grumble about that.

    Paying for Alpha software is a gamble but HTML5 is the future and there are not many other tools out there that can do what C2 does now in its earliest form. Giving Ashley a little bit of pie 'n' mash will help things to advance quicker and allow him to work on it full time.

    I am certain that if we pay a little now we will be handsomely rewarded in the very near future.

    Do it! Do it nouw!!!

  • Please correct me if I am wrong (cause I probably am) but could you use the exported Html5 and JavaScript with Phonegap (also free) to make an actual IPhone app?

    Obviously you would need a Mac and Apple developer licence(which I have). If this truly is the case I will be even more excited about C2 than I am already!

    Oh hi, I'm Marc by the way. This is my first post here even though I've been lurking for quite some time.
