  • No error message - export runs fine, but when i try to open the App on OSX, it doesnt open...?

  • Link to .capx file (required!):

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Export to desktop app via NodeWebkit

    Observed result:

App appears for milliseconds in the dock then disappears completely, never fully opening...

    App running.

    Operating system & service pack:

    OSX 10.9.0

  • Just want to apologize - i was searching the forums and found this post, which actually seemed to be exactly what my issue was - I changed my CAPX so that the function just finds the path, then had a general event in my main event sheet that performs the actual move "on Path Found"

    scirra.com/forum/pathfinding-sort-of-working-help-needed_topic69670.html

I figured something was up because once I cleared away the 'complications' from my path it was working fine, so it was only bugging out when there was path that was more than just a simple straight line. Once i took the advice form the posters on that other post (THANKS!) It all works smoothly. ;) Thanks again.

  • Im having some trouble with the pathfinder behaviour... I cant quite determine if the issue is the way Ive set everything up or if the issue is with the pathfinder behaviour itself. I've gone through all potential scenarios, but I cant seem to consistently replicate a certain behaviour:

    • I have 2 items on the screen. Player can walk between the 2 items & can touch the items to effectively "Pick them Up" (a message will display)

The issue I have is when i try to click on one item, then close the message window, then try and click somewhere else, usually that click does not register, and I have to click *again* for the actual movement to take place.

You can check a link to the CAPX here: docs.google.com/file/d/0ByHn8jyTDyHcTHU2UERIMlBJNUU/edit

To reproduce my issue - click on the green square (Book) once the message pops up, click it to close it, then click on the grey square (Statue). It SHOULD start moving towards that Square, but it doesnt... it does register the mouse press though, as you can see by my debug thing at the bottom (X & Y Coord).

Any idea what might be causing this? Any help anyone can provide is hugely hugely appreciated.

  • Hey pals, my name's Nate / i go by Mantrakid. I've been playing with Construct for about a year now, but feel like i am ready to get into some proper face time with it. I've been following the updates of Construct 2 and am blown away at how often and in depth the updates are.

My background is in illustration and music/sound design so I feel like video games are a very all-inclusive way to combine my creative passions together. Couple that with the fact that video games fill any shred of free time i can find.

Anyways, looking forward to chatting with you. :)

  • Ive jumped at an angled platform maybe 100-200 times straight and it seems when im paying attention, i have no problems but its pretty much if the corner of the player box is off by 1 pixel it will miss the jump even if it looks like it should make it. I think this is a case where it's technically correct, but it 'seems' broken since if you're just playing normally, jumps that 'should' work, don't...

not sure what could be done to fix tho.. I would say maybe use special sprites for the diagonals where the collision is 'sunken' a bit... the player will aim for the 'visual border' but they have a bit of wiggle room since you've brought back the actual collision by 5 pixels or something..... maybe...?

  • Worked a charm. Trying to think of how to make this easier in the long run but basically i set 3 variables:

    playerX

    playerY

    playerFacing

And when the player collides with the 'levelchange' sprite, it sets the 3 variables to whatever they should be (playerX and playerY of the 'next' screen i'll be in, playerFacing = which direction they are looking, so if they come in from the right, it sets them to face left, etc)

Then on LayoutStart i basically set the player position to whatever the x/y are and set the Mirrored based on playerFacing. Bam!

    Thanks again RockmanZero

  • RockmanZero, you helped me huge. Basically I'll have an event at the load of each layout that:

1- Checks where you came from.

2- sets player position according to that check

3- sets the new current level.

Thanks a tonne man!! Just wasnt thinking straight, not enough sleep or something. Your words were a vision of clarity. ;)

  • Hey, been reading the forums for a couple weeks now but I have my first question that I cant seem to find the answer to in the tutorials / forums.

I have a simple event-based level change when player collides with a marked off sprite area it triggers the system event to change layout to, say, Level 2. Problem is, it just uses the default player position when i appear in Level2. If I set the even to "set position of player" after it changes layouts, it seems to ignore it.. in fact it seems to ignore all events after that level change.

So.. is there a way to determine what the "last level" was? Then I can have a condition on layout start that says if it's coming from A, set player position to X,Y. If it's coming layout B, set player position to X,Y.

Or is there another way I should be setting the player position / changing the level?

Thanks a million you guys all rock.

    Nate

  • Still getting the black screen when rotating the iPad.. just curious if this is this a fixable thing?

  • Any help on how you solved the problem? I cant seem to create topics - i get Internal Server Error 500 too.
