  • I'm using this logic

If touch on setting and togglesound is 1, turn off music, set togglesound 0

If touch on setting and togglesound is 0, turn on music, set togglesound 1

But, it's not working, whenever I touch the button it simply loop the sound to start

    Any help?

    edit

    Nevermind, found toggle silent function

  • Mostly Android devices come with 16:9 resolution

So, which is better, starting with 850x480 or 1280x720?

    Thanks

  • Use Invisible Sprites.

Will the invisible sprites disturb other sprites?

  • What I mean is like Reaper game where you touch right side of screen and your character move to right and also when we touch left side of screen the character move to right

    Any hints?

  • Hi guys

What I mean is how to made the background in platform game become looping so I don't need to make a very long image for the background

    Thanks

  • Shameless bump!

  • Don't use button objects as they are different depending on the platform. Use a sprite as your button and use the touch object to detect touches on it.

For the screen issue there are plenty of posts on the forums about it. Use request fullscreen and one of the scaling modes (scale outer, letterbox, etc...). You want to make your layout sized to fit the smallest screen size you plan to support, but enough overflow (surrounding graphics) to cover larger screens as well. ArcadEd has a great tutorial on this on Udemy.

    i've viewed his video

and what i got is that we need to guide the screen focus to the middle of our layout so when we scale it outer, it still cover the screen, right?

also, what's the best resolution for android games ported using cocoonjs?

I mean the layout and the window size and fullscreen mode

    thanks

  • So I want to port to Android using cocoon js, the question is how to set adaptive resolution as we know Android phones come in different resolution like 1280x720 or 845x480

I've tried using the resolution 1280x720 but when tested on my Android phone which using the same resolution, the game output is diferrent, some objects located too left of the screen

Also, why my button object is not showing up when porting via cocoon js, but it show up when using intel XDK?

    thanks

  • Add the mouse plugin to your layout and then :

    On object clicked

Triggered when a given mouse button is pressed while the mouse cursor is over an object. This can also be used to detect double-clicks on objects.

I just LOL ed myself for not seeing that option

BTW, anyone have web source for start menu assets like start button or background?

    Thanks

  • I've read the tutorial about creating start button and in the tutorial the maker use button object which is clickable

I want to change this object to img, say like a image with custom made "start" text", and it must be clickable

I've tried to add event to this img object, but i can't found the "if clicked" things like the button object

    Any help?

  • Check out the tutorials section. There is a great tutorial for a self adjusting text box using the 9-patch

I'm really thankful for your rep, such a great help

Now, anyone know where to get open art for good background for start menu?

Has been googling for 2 hours and found nothing

You know, something like start button, exit etc

  • I guess using a 9 patch object to do the window, and put a text inside it.

    more explanation please

  • Why you want to copy a game and not think of an own idea

As a programmer I can say: Everything's possible: It's just a matter of how much efforts you put in it.

Got the same idea long before and after some googling, found out someone out there had same idea

Thanks for your kind words, gonna put lot of effort here

  • Both games you postet are not that easy to do!

You can see that there are a lot of game elements and menus. Also both games need a very good balancing and working algorithms. Game development isnt as easy as it seams. And making the game work is just 20% of work. You still need menus, highscores, settings, sharebuttons, finishing touches and connect your game to a store.

I don't want to demoralize you but I saw a lot of beginners who were trying to make huge games and ended up with nothing. Rather do something really really small and finish it.

I'm in position of not being able to create small project so I ended up with the political party manager game

3 months is the time I got, do you think it will be enough to create the core of the game ?
