  • zenox98, again, I am not referring to a static file location. I'm using the expression NodeWebkit.AppFolder. That should not be in quotation marks .

  • But this is the NodeWebkit.AppFolder expression, if you put it in quotes, it'll read it as plain text, not an expression.

  • Problem Description

When trying to run a file using the NodeWebkit.AppFolder&"something.xxx" expression, the action doesn't run if the game exe is in a folder whose directory structure contains spaces.

    Attach a Capx

    [attachment=0:2qceskxz][/attachment:2qceskxz]

    Description of Capx

    This attempts to open "construct2.png".

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • 1) Run the capx and export to NW.
    • 2) Copy construct2.png from the C2 folder (this is just an example, it'll work with any file), into the exported folder.
    • 3) Copy the NW folder to any HDD root.
    • 4) Rename the NW folder to something with a space in it (like "win 32").
    • 5) Run the exe, click the button and watch as nothing happens.
    • 6) Now rename the NW folder back to "win32" or whatever.
    • 7) Run the exe again, click the button and watch as the png opens. Observed Result The png doesn't open when in a folder with a space. Expected Result The png should open Affected Browsers

  • I figured it out: if the game exe is in a folder whose directory structure contains any spaces, it doesn't work. This is definitely a bug. I'll report it in the proper section since I have an example of it ready to go.

  • Easy way to hide the problem: have a single screen that pops up before the main menu with the words "Press (A) to start".

  • Have you initialised the controller in-game by pressing a face button? Directional functions like the d-pad and analogue sticks won't register until the controller has been initialised - this has to be done once for each controller, every time the game is played.

  • I don't understand why you want to avoid using iframes? Just create the iframe in a post or page, and make that post or page accessible to registered users only.

  • Phew, I'm done! Ended up taking the theme very literally. My first LD so I decided to play it safe.

  • I noticed this yesterday as well. I welcome it, if this is intentional.

I always delete my WAV files anyway, and I'm yet to have an issue.

  • I'll admit these forums are terribly mobile-unfriendly, but I get by well enough as it is. Definitely wouldn't want development time on Construct to be sacrificed for this sake.

  • That could work quite well for a community game: something with an overall connecting arch, dotted with micro-games or the like.

It'd need killer organisational skills on top, though. Expect no-shows, buggy and inefficient code. I'd suggest one or two people dedicated to putting it all together just from a coding point of view,

  • Why? They're cute characters, sure, but ultimately arbitrary. They don't mean anything unless you apply meaning to them, so let's find an artist who can create new characters. This doesn't have to be an "official" game by any means.
