Game dev compos. Hoping to turn it into something a bit more stable and regular entering next year :)

  • Ohh, it was a little diffuse. Thanks, it worked fine :)

  • Hello,

Im wondering if there is a way to compare if a boolean instance variable is currently true or false?

Only option i can find is "Is boolean instance variable set", and which object its set to. I simply want to set a global variable to "1" when its false, and "0" when its true.

    Any thoughts?

  • Lookin' good :) Allthough, it might be a little confusing having threats depicted as hearts.

  • This is my greatest incentive at this moment, and i think this might work very good. There are several flash games available atm, so a well working HTML5 wrapped as .exe should be just fine.

The 100th release is perfectly timed with Steam Greenlight. Geenlight seems like a "kickstarter", just without initial funding, and i think there are a lot of possibilites for us here!

  • Its like you're yelling at me in a language i dont understand :(

  • I'll just jump in here with a quick question.

Earlier i noticed that when inserting large sprites (directly from folder to the editor), no warning or anything appears.

But if i double click a sprite (animation editor etc), and import a new sprite there, a warning appears if the image is too large, and slicing them is advised. Does it really help to slice it up? As mentioned in this thread, slicing up a huge image does not help performance wise.

  • I'm thinking about trying kongregate, and they're monthly compos. You will not become a millionaire, but money might roll in - at least this is what i've read.

Another option im looking into is the MarketJS, and selling games to publishers. If i focus entirely on this, i could probably push out a product each month, or every 2nd month. Of course, if i manage to maintain superb quality, and deliver polished products, there might be thousands of dollars on exclusive/non-exclusive contracts, and additional income on ads.

I'll probably exclude Facebook for now, as i would need alot of features to be working in harmony with the facebook API. I just dont see "kongregate-type" games on facebook making any money stand-alone.

When it comes to mobile, iOS and Android, i'm really just waiting for it to be stable enough - and even then its a lottery. You might sit on the greatest game of all time, but you still might end up on the bottom, never to be seen on the market.

Another option is Steam, and the greenlight stuff. But its far-fetched in my eyes at this point, and the scope of the game should then be much, much bigger.

So uhm.. TLDR; Personally, I'd go with kongregate, or MarketJS (selling to publishers) in order to monetize, while still being on the lookout for iOS/Android and standalone options.

  • Thanks for the kind words, and nice constructive feedback sheepy!

I've done a few quick changes now, notably, i've made the intro part easier to understand and less confusing. I also adjusted the speed of the boy/little friend.

Furthermore i will make changes to the enemy part, and details and animation will come in time :)

Again, thanks for the feedback! Uploading new version now - might have to clear offline stored data in order to see the new build (same link).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Thanks alot for the comments :) I'll be updating the build very soon, to fix some bugs, and make things easier to understand.

  • Hmm thats interesting, but most likely my bad. I may have forgotten to have a tutorial pop-up when near the little creature (you're supposed to use the rope u get from the bridge, and get the creature up from the hole) :)

I'll update it. TPorter64, thanks for the detailed feedback, i'll keep work on the sound :)

  • Bump! Updated the original post with a fresh, huge update to the game! Check it ou :)

  • Oh, sorry! I copied the wrong link :( Updated now!

  • Each object consists of 4 rain drops (random really). That object has 4 sprites where each drop simply move. There is also a seperate object present, which is the animation for when rain hits the ground. This is just a "simulation" of one drop hitting the ground, which is duplicated :)

By the way, check out the demo of this game here.!

  • Hey! Thought i'd share my project called Deluso.

Deluso started out as a prototype, where the element of sound was thoroughly experimented with. After several iterations, it evolved to something special. This is my current main project, where the player takes control of a girl lost in a strange land, soon to discover great powers. With beautiful visuals, stunning sound and some nifty gameplay mechanics, this title will offer a complete experience.

Read more about the project here, or click my signature :)

    *Update 1*

Removed the old information, regarding the prototype version of the game. In time i will update this thread, providing new images, trailers and demos. The game itself has undergone a huge facelift, with some crucial changes to the core of the game. Information coming soon!

    *Update 2*

Deluso was featured among the most promising indie-games currently in development at Norways biggest gaming convention! This is an arrangement like E3 and PAX, just at a smaller scale. You can read more about it here!
