  • signaljacker Yes I know, testing it out, even uploaded a spriter template with my new pack.

  • Never heard of photoline. Will have a look.

I think the problem is 10 yeras back there was no competition for adobe products and we were forced to learn that only. Today there are many software but because of the learning curve, not many wish to re learn a new software from scratch.

I do not like the rent system for adobe cc too, it is just too much, but they are the only company who can actually change their business model like that and still survive, they have so many users.

  • Use old version of flash, I am using cs 4 and it works well. Because it is vector, you do not necessarily need bones or motion graph, a lot can be done with frame to frame animation.

Animestudio has one big problem, its locked bones creates jerking effect. That is why I moved back to flash, not sure they have fixed that now.

Spriter also has some jerks, as I was testing it right now, but it can be smoothed out.

Anyways you have to get a vector software, because spriter is not a design tool and trust me if someone has learned flash or illustrator, they will never go back to inckscape or other vector software, which are no where in comparison.

Spriter is looking good to me and affordable for now, but it will take me a week or more to completely test it.

  • Sale is ending today and the bundle discount will also come down to 30%. Thanks to all who bought our packs.

  • I am actually liking the spriter tuts a lot. The only problem I find is that it is a bit unstable but that can change once the first version comes out.

I had a talk with mike at their forums and he told me I can sell the animations even with the free version of spriter. So for my next animation packs, I am going to include either graphics ready for spriter or animated in it, including the flash files.

  • Nice Art

I am working to create few dungeon maps myself.

  • signaljacker Does spriter has vector art abilities like flash? If not then we have to depend on flash to create the vector art first.

What I see till now is that spriter is more like photoshop/paint where we can manipulate the art in parts. I am going through it, will give more feedback soon.

  • Flash is no doubt universal, while spriter is new kid on the block. I came to know about it only on scirra forums. I believe spriter has a plugin only for construct. In that way it is very limited. I am anyway working with it right now to understand its pros and cons.

I have no disrespect for the software or the developers, nor I am saying it is not worth it, who knows it might be even better than Flash.

I did mentioned above : "Use Adobe Flash if you are going Adobe route". Spriter is not included in Adobe route

I have worked with all major 2D animation software including toonboomstudio. I am also currently writing a book on games and would definitely include Spriter in it if it is worth it. That is why I am testing it right now.

I did send them an email a month back, no response till date. Anyway no hard feelings man, I do hope spriter can pass the test and actually beat flash. I hate Adobe's new cc model.

  • Tom If we put discount on bundles and sale, how are the fees calculated? They will be calculated on the initial fees of single pack or the new discounted fees, say 50% off.

I had my first bundle sale today and I am a bit confused as to exactly how percentage fees were deducted.

  • As I said Pheonix I am sill going through spriter, so I am not sure about all the features it has and how can it be used.

  • Use Adobe Flash if you are going adobe route and not illustrator. Illustrator is very clumsy. You can not only create vector art in HD but also animate in flash.

Crazy talk animator and animestudio, have their own learning curves, but if a person knows flash, can easily grasp those two.

I am going through spriter right now, will see how it works. But with flash your assets can be used for any game engine, whether cocos, flash, unity, torque, game salad and construct 2. Spriter is good only if you are working with construct 2.

  • Tom I am looking for sites where I can upload but most of them are paid sites and there is still no guarantee that the scirra up-loader will actually work with them. It seems to download from dropbox/google drive but resets the % up-loader after a percentage is reached and then after 2 attempts gives a blank page.

For time being if you can setup an ftp that will help, especially if it can work with filezilla etc.

Other game asset store, I am uploading on is also facing the same issue with their up-loader for large files, so they have asked to share the files on dropbox and are manually copying and pasting on their server from dropbox for each client.
