  • There are about 1500 objects, and that is holding back, it could easily be double that if I wanted to saturate the level entirely.

    I'm not using RTS movement.

    Am I right in assuming off screen shaders shouldn't affect performance?

    With simulate shader 0.0 on I still get stuck around 30fps. (My computer isn't that bad - 3ghz dual core etc, so I'm worried about other people playing it.)

    Disabling LOS events doesn't change FPS at all either

    The only thing I've come across that increases FPS significantly is deleting a bunch of objects.

    In this situation where I have loads of for each object loops, and other events that may get a lot more intensive the more objects I have, I think it could benefit from leaving out objects that are far away (since they'll be stationary, and miles away from any action anyway). Obviously this would be optional.

    I can get around this by just chopping up the levels and having more of them, but it's not ideal, and may not be as easy with another game.

    You know every time there's a new version it resets all my quick access tool bar stuff which is a bit annoying, doesn't really matter though if its unavoidable.

  • I'm making a game with some large levels, but the more stuff I add the lower the fps drops. I am using the line of sight behaviour (set to 50px) , but only every ~100ms, and if within a certain distance. My question is, how does construct handle objects that are off screen, and could it do with an option to ignore some objects that are VARIABLE DISTANCE off the screen?

  • When you select an attribute in a "is overlapping" event, and you click finish, it tells you to ensure that object parameters are picked.

    edit: please!! a hotfix or something, this is crippling

  • I mean there's clearly ways around it, I don't think that would be an improvement, I'd rather have each layout with its own and a bunch of included event sheets, doesn't really matter either way though. Just pointing out sometimes you might want to copy the event sheet with the layout (which you (well, I) can by copying the events heh).

  • Thing is, you won't always want the exact same events or even event sheets in each layout, and if you have say 20 event sheets and 80+ events that might change per layout you don't want to start this from scratch again. When I first realised it didn't copy the event sheet I was a little confused as well.

    I think when you clone a layout it should give you an option to copy the events, as I've wanted this before.

    There is a bug where you can't paste events into a blank event sheet, though I keep forgetting to submit this as all you have to do is make a new event (doesn't matter what) and then click it and paste on top of that.

  • I cant reproduce the tiled background bug. Would you be able to tell me the following:

    width and height of the image

    width and height of the tiled background

    x and y of the tiled background

    This will help us reproduce it

    This is still the thing for me that slows making games down the most, it takes so long to change the affected object (circled in red) if

    1) you have loads of objects,

    2) you have to do it for a lot of events (which you've just copied and pasted or something)

    also if you have loads of objects it even takes ages to change the object circled in blue.

    I think it should be possible to drag these objects onto eachother, copying it

    PLEASE do something about this, it would speed things up so so much.

    (this is also the only reason why MMF's event editor is faster than construct's)
