  • The cap file for my project is 0.600kb.

When run it, it shows 0.870mb VRAM in caption)

When i convert the cap to an EXE, the file is 6.600 mb.

Is this normal? Iv'e been using Construct for a long time and i should know the answer, but i dont.

    Thanks <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • This is a test version of the 'Match3 game maker' i have been working on.

Open the rar file and copy the complete folder to your hard drive.

1, Start the builder by running 'Match3 Maker.exe'

    2, Pick a background image.

3, Pick the animation frames for the blocks.

    4, Pick the in-game sounds.

5, Enter a name and save.

6, The finished game should be in the the 'exported games \ game folder.

7, Test the finished game by running ' My game.exe'

8, If everything works, you should be able to copy the folder 'game' to another computer and it should play.

Check the help file for instructions

(Created with C2 (click the 'index' file to run)

This build only allows for basic game setting's to be changed (its a test)

Hopefully, the final version will allow you to change all the game settings (grid sizes, game graphics, sounds, difficulty settings, timers, game logo.....etc.

    Forgot to mention,

When your creating a game you can click on the blocks in the main window

    to test the settings.

  • I've read some comments on that tool, and it seems it supports such a small featureset it's not actually that useful for modern, practical flash applications. It's targeted at banner ads and other really simple stuff.

It was featured on the BBC's 'Click' programme today, and the Chrome website has a couple of basic games created(converted) with it.

The section about Microsoft's windows 8 is the interesting bit?

"Microsoft signaled its intent to more aggressively support HTML5 with Windows 8, possibly at the expense of Silverlight, the company's Flash lookalike. And though Microsoft pledges to share more about this at its upcoming BUILD developer conference, developers have been in a tizzy over the future of Silverlight"

  • 'As HTML5 appears to be moving ahead of technologies such as Adobe’s Flash and Microsoft Silverlight with some developers, Google has moved in with Swiffy, a new Flash-to-HTML5 conversion tool'

  • Not as easy as i thought it would be!

At the moment, the app lets you do the following -

    1, Set the background image.

2, Change the individual frame images.

3, Pick different sounds for swapping, matching and destroying.

4, Create timed or random levels.

5, Create a new game folder containing the exe. file, images sounds that can be distributed.

Managed to sort the main bits, just need to add some extra stuff like bonuses and levels.

  • Couple of screenshots of a Match3 game bulder i am working on.

The game(app) lets you create unique Match3 type game's using a simple wizard type interface.

The logic and events are based on PixelRebirth's match3 tutorial....so many thanks to him.

  • Do you prefer having an external image editor? I can add an option for that if you like.

It would help to have this option, rather than opening and closing programs just to make change's to a texture.

  • It was changed in last release. Creating/editing sprites now opens up internal image editor - you can only load your graphics here cause proper painting tool is still in development.

    Thanks.

  • Do you prefer having an external image editor? I can add an option for that if you like.

    I am a bit confused ?

Using the last build i had installed (might be 43) i double clicked in the layout to insert a sprite. If i wanted to to edit the sprite, i double clicked on it, made the changes, then saved it.

In the latest build(r46) this doesn't happen, it open's Constructs internal image editor, but this only has crop, flip, resize etc.

How do i edit the actual textures ?

Sorry if i am missing something or not explaining the problem correctly.

  • When i try to edit a texture it opens the new test edit window.

How do i change it back to my normal editing software.

I didn't want to create a new topic just for this question, but i can't find the answer on the forums.

  • 1, Could be the sound file your using?

    2, Try a different sound(s) just as a test.

3, Open the sound in an editor, if it looks like pictures 2 or 3 (below) it wont sound correct.

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22173473/sound.png" border="0" />

4, Upload the sound file/cap for someone to look at?
