  • When I use a layout object, I'd like the transparency of the new layout's first layer to carry over to the object. Would you be willing to add this?

  • Naw. I just thought I was being all smrt and stuff coming up with my own little console. This is so much better. In truth, you're racking up so many Cookie IOUs from me I might have to file chapter 13. Or at least, work that much harder so I can more quickly show you guys all the progress I've been making.

EDIT: As per hiding the text box, how about making it its own layer and doing whatever to the layer?

  • *Crumples up his now ristupulous attempts at an in-game console and starts over*

That's my new word. "Ridiculous" + "Stupid." This revelation actually caused me to make up a whole new word for my prior ignorance. See what you're doing to me!? DO YOU SEE!?

  • Linking two layouts together is an inefficient way of doing things, if what you're suggesting is using two "Layout" objects side by side and moving them adjacent to each other. Sure, it would provide a seamless transition, but you're left to manage the wrap between layouts manually.

Of course, I'm probably looking too far into things. If you're instead suggesting having a "transition zone" that jumps to another layout, that severely limits the creative process.

Perhaps a physics overhaul down the is the only thing that can make it right?

  • I'm not Ashley, but I couldn't imagine this happening without a large rewrite of how eventing works. Because the structure across events differs so vastly, Construct would have to be able to discern when and where this is appropriate in each event, if at all.

If you're having to write a whole many scenarios with like conditions, perhaps a more creative use of events is needed. Use loops, AND/OR, groups and sub events to optimize your code, loading as many actions to the same condition as possible. It takes a little practice and planning, but it's worth it in the end.

Otherwise, I feel you. I would like a feature such as this myself. In the cases where's I've had to use brute-force methods (such as within this young animation system) there have been times I'll have to take time to correct one mistake across perhaps 10 or more events.

  • Ah, the famous "Baranby Winslow." I wonder just how many 419eater pranks have been pulled on that catch-all.

  • Small bug : Scaling while holding shift didn't work properly when i tried from the top right vertex. Not a big problem, scaled properly from the top left.

Confirmed, but I think I know why. Anytime object is rotated 90 degrees (and other rotations) via its common properties, shift-resizing goes haywire.

  • They come from, you guessed it, Yahoo and Google. They're archivers. They are the sole reason one day everybody who types "Oh, that crazy SoldjahBoy!" into Google is gonna come up with this page right at the top of their search results.

  • The States aren't as bad as the media might lead you to believe. Wouldn't give it up for anything, my friend.

  • Perhaps the whole point of this forum is permanence, though. In which case, yeah.. small, isolated demos would be best here. No need to have my WIP stuff held on Scirra servers.

  • +CONDITION

    -DirectSound: Play music from file "path\to\Music.mp3";

If you use paths, be sure they are backslashes [\] in Windows.

Does that help, or are you doing something more specific?

    Probably.

  • Any other limitations? If I were to use this for future iterations of my development journal, each example set is getting near 5-10 megs or so. In the case I'm willing to share a full-blown demo with sounds and high quality graphics, is this the proper venue or shall I use an alternative host?
