  • I can't find that 0.05 you mention!

  • yes, ti would be something like that. the thing is how to make a transition in the scrolling so it doesn't shift so suddenly

  • thanks!! let's check.

  • thanks!! very useful answers

  • I'm thinking on something like this:

Every "S" would be an invisible sprite that marks the Y scroll for each part.

The thing is how to make every S work only when the player is close to it (can it be made using always the same sprite or does every S have to be a different sprite?) and how to change smoothly from one scroll to the next.

  • Hi!

Is there a way to make the camera scroll to my player sprite but only on the X axis?

The trciky part is that the Y axis should be scrolled to certain heights depending on the part of the level, regarding of the player standing or the ground or jumping.

I guess I should create different invisible objects through the level so everyime one of those is onscreen it scrolls to it's specific details.

Is this too tricky? what would you reccomend?

  • that's very good,

    thanks a lot!

  • great!! thanks.

Is there a way to differentiate sides? like saying: "when sidekick is at the player's right side"

  • Hi!

I have 2 sprites on my game. One is the player and the other is a sidekick that follows him (not player controlled).

How do I make the sidekick follow the player?

i want it to stay still unless the player gets far enough, then the sidekick walks to lessen the distance.

I think I need an expression triger like this:

"when the x distance between sideckick and player is bigger than X"

    could you help me? thanks.

  • Ok, I solved this stuff.

The rpoblem was that somehow, the C2 logo image and other pngs had dissapeared within the capx file. that alone crashed the whole thing. I never erased them so this is somehow a bug. i created a new project and replaced all the files so my work was saved.

  • I've tried a backup of the game that is much older and didn't work either (it used to work before). So, if the capx file already includes all the elements inside it, as a RAR file, i can't see how it would be missing files.

I think the problem is a BUG of the soft or a configuration problem, but as other capx files work in preview I doubt about that last one.

i can't think why a project works once, and then after reinstalling all the soft it doesn't work anymore. The files aren't damaged or anything. So, i can't really figure this out.

  • Link to .capx file (required! If link is blocked remove the http and www parts):

    mega.co.nz

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. open the project

    2. preview

    3. BUG!

    Observed result:

I had to reinstall the OS and all the software, for unrelated reasons, and when I reinstalled construct my game stopped working. It worked before the reinstallation. Other games that come with construct DO work, though.

When I preview the game it doesn't work and this popup appears:

Javascript error!Uncaught InvalidStateError: An attempt was made to use an object that is not, or is no longer, usable.http://localhost:50000/preview.js, line 1217 (col 11)This is either a bug in Construct 2 or a problem in a third party plugin or behavior - please report it to the developer!

    Expected result:

    To preview!

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Firefox: yes

    Internet Explorer: yes

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7, 64bits

    Construct 2 version:

    r154

  • hi!!

It was all OK with my game until I had to format my PC and reinstall construct2 (for unrelated reasons).

I did all that and now my game doesn't work on preview. Any of those other games that come with construct work perfectly.

Chorme opens all black and it shows this error:

Javascript error!Uncaught InvalidStateError: An attempt was made to use an object that is not, or is no longer, usable.http://localhost:50000/preview.js, line 1217 (col 11)This is either a bug in Construct 2 or a problem in a third party plugin or behavior - please report it to the developer!

I'd say this is a configuration problem, but, why does this happen to my game only?

  • Hi!

Some time ago I posted a topic about the size of the sprites the question was: i wanna make my char of a standard "contra"-like game size but being able to zoom in in some moments till I have him, in a full body close up (you see his whole body on screen but really close).

the suggestion by the people in the forum was to make the character that big from the start and just shrink him in construct. The soft would handle the cache and images properly so it wouldn't lag or anything, just like if the sprites were small from the begining.

But it's not like that. when I charge the project, save it, and activate the preview it takes a lot of time. sometimes it takes like 30 seconds in any of those actions. Once the preview starts it lags but after some seconds it starts working better till it's perfectly fluid. And when I export it it works terribly bad.

What's the problem? Should I reimport all the animations again in a much smaller size?

if I do that, how can I handle those zoomed moments? By havin a separate set with all the animations of the char in a bigger size for later use?

  • well, if it's for creating sprites and exporting them to C2, I already do that with after effects and they come out perfectly.
