  • This is awesome!

Takes me back to Rock N Roll Racing on the SNES.

I'm going to download it once I'm off work today.

  • Great post!

    A quick note on feedback...

Critiquing someone's work can often be just as difficult as it can be to accept a critique of your own work. I've been working in games now for over 7 years and I've been involved in some incredibly harsh critiques, on one side or the other, and they've all been in front of large groups of people.

The important thing to remember, is that people are just expressing their opinions, and even if someone expresses frustration over content you've created, it's still extremely valuable to understand why they were frustrated. Often a comment may be something like, "the game is too hard!" and it's important to know the kind of gamer they are (they could be a grandma, or an MLG aficionado, you never know unless you ask!) and what about the game they found "too hard." It could very well be a simple bug based on their own play style that wasn't accounted for, or maybe the enemies are too dark and don't show up against the backgrounds you've created.

Before people review my work, I always let them know what I worked on, and what I'd specifically like feedback on.

i.e. "I just updated the damage the boss in level 3 does, does it still feel balanced?"

Even then, people may still point out issues you didn't ask for, but that's actually great information, because it means something else stood out to them even more than what you specifically asked for, so it's time to dissect it and figure out why!

Sorry this was a little long winded, just remember, filtering critiques is an invaluable skill for game designers that only serves to better your project!

  • Looks really neat, and I love the audio too. Reminds me of playing a Game Gear game.

I know you don't have enemies yet, but I think it would be a bit more interesting if during "build mode," the screen was still scrolling. Dropping the blocks in place while the game is paused just doesn't seem quite as engaging to me, but I guess I still haven't played it yet.

  • First video from my game The Next Penelope : )

That looks sick! It's crazy how 3D it looks.

I can't wait to play it!

  • Great visual style. Really like the camera work too.

Pretty excited to play this one. :)

  • That looks sweet. Love the animations!

Great color schemes for the levels too.

Nice use of remixed Donkey Kong Country music!

  • Reminds me a lot of TowerFall.

    Looks awesome!

    Is this going to XBLA?

  • Marketing and or getting involved with various gaming communities can go a very long way too.

  • Hi everyone,

I've actually been using Construct 2 for quite sometime now on my older Vista based machine with no issues whatsoever.

I just purchased a new Windows 8 laptop and was anxious to flex its muscle all over C2 when I encountered an issue that I'm fairly positive is not a C2 related bug.

Essentially, I can't see any sprites in any of my layouts, and even if I'm lucky enough to blindly select one I still don't see a blue rectangle or anything of the nature indicating that it's actually in my scene other than the properties change in the tab on the left.

Before anyone asks, yes my graphics drivers (there are 2 display adapters) are up to date. It's worth noting that I notice this behavior not just within my capx, but also even within the startup screen itself for C2:

    <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82679653/C2Help/C2StartScreen.jpg" border="0" />

As an added bonus, here's the Tribes Ascend Launcher UI which as some of you may know, also displays images, but only on my new W8 machine is the background for the UI completely missing:

    <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82679653/C2Help/TribesAscendLauncher.jpg" border="0" />

These are the stats on my machine:

    Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU

    Nvidia GTX770M 3GB Video

    Intel HM87 Mainboard

    ScanDisk 64GB SSD

    750GB 7200RPM SATA300 HDD

I tried setting the default display adapter to the 770M, but that didn't make any difference. Is there some random web based driver that I'm missing?

Thanks so much for your help.
