  • I think I will start with trying to publish on Chrome Store since there is what appears to be a good tutorial on here about it and the developer info on the chrome store site seems quite straight forward. Plus it only costs $5 to get started, you don't have to worry about hosting and if you give your app a version number you can keep fiddling with it and updating it as you go. It looks like the easiest option for a novice non programming type.

  • What is the easiest, most straight forward way to publish a stand alone tablet/desktop app ? (I mean one that is self contained and can be used offline; the easiest option possible after it is created in Construct 2.

    I dont want to get a website: I have tried looking into the google play store and Amazon App Store but nothing is straightforward and I am having trouble understanding their information and have spent most of the day googling terminology like SDK, IDEs etc and trying to understand both website's info on publishing. There are threads on here implying or stating that it isnt easy and that things dont work. I dont want to be a programmer I just want to create nice interactive stories and share them

  • This Thread has confused me. I have just finished making an interactive book with C2 and want to put it on the google play store so I came on here to find out how to do that. I was under the impression that C2 could produce an app that was ready to go for various platforms depending on what options you chose when you finished it. Is this not the case? It's really too daunting if you have to learn C2, then have to investigate how to then choose another program and learn that in order to publish a finished product. Surely this is not in accordance with how C2 is marketed? I did pay for the program because I wanted to support the developers.

  • Its not worth removing them to find out, I need them to make my project work and now I updated the chrome browser on the android tablet I havent had the message again.... its only because I dont know regular computer programming so I dont know what is useful to report and what is not. I just thought that its worth mentioning incase it meant anything to anyone, if you know what I mean. Tell me if this sort of error message is not worth passing on so I wont do it again.

  • I just noticed that my android tablet was trying to download updates, which I stopped but that a chrome update was included so I updated that and now it seems to be working just fine.

    I dont know if an error is a bug but bug reporting system is too complicated for me ( go figure, its the way my brain does and does not work and visually I find the form hard to read) but the chrome browser on my android tablet said report the error.

    So I got the newest version of Construct yesterday and I am using two of rex's plugings, TouchMouse and MoveTo,

    The message was: cannot read property 'prototype' of........:50000/objrefs.js,line29(col19).

    Believe me you would not want this capx. I was/am having a problem with sound playing when first loaded and not when refreshed and text not working properly until I changed the font.

    I wont be offended if this is ignored, just trying to be helpful that's all.

    Also the same project is working just fine using Safari on ipad and Chrome on laptop.

    I just had the same problem but on a second loading the sounds work but some of the text is missing. I am using a chrome browser and it works fine on my laptop chrome browser. I thought perhaps there was a plugin I was missing but it doesnt seem so and I cant see what else you could do with the text settings to affect it.

    Edit: I just closed the browser altogether and when I reopened it with the project over LAN the sound did not work until I refreshed it from within the browser. Having said that the sound works sometimes and not others.

    I solved my text problem by splitting some text into two seperate text objects and by changing the font from Times New Roman to Arial.

    I also got an error message when I opened it in the browser at first so I need to report that, when I figure out how

  • Well I have fixed it. I replaced all mouse events with Rex's TouchMouse. Also I had the global sprites set as global so I put those to No as well and now it all seems ok.

    ok tried previously posted capx in r216 and it was the same. Made this one in r216 starting with 'Touch/tap and it worked fine,, but then I added in the Mouse object and changed the events to mouse click on object and it went tits up too. So it has to be something to do with the changing the events from touch to mouse and vice versa? I would think so anyway. But does that mean that my big project that I started with only the mouse object made just for mouse is unfixable? I changed it all back to mouse events and deleted the touch object but it still decides to only show half the global screen sometimes...bamboozled.

    attached above is link to capx. I dont know how to explain this, I was using the global backwards and forwards thing with mouse only and everything was alright. Then yesterday I tried changing it to touch, tap on object with mouse/yes and everything went tits up and remained that way once I put it all back to mouse only again.

    Sometimes the global layer is visible sometimes it isnt, sometimes only some of it is visible in the browser, sometimes the project skips a page on clicking.

    I havent attached the capx for the original project because it is large, 18 layouts but I recreated the problem in a small way.

    I set the project up with mouse, changed it to touch tap, it went wrong, I put it back to mouse and it is still wrong.

    On layout1 the global layer shows up , then it doesnt, but the hotspot/links/ buttons (whatever you would call them) still work even though you cant see them... I am using chrome browser, I just updated Java but that has made no difference. I am on release 212.2 (64 bit). I cant see anything logical that would be causing this.

    Should I update to a beta version of Construct2, am I doing something wrong?

  • yeah its just that if you are not all that ofay with sound files its a bit difficult to know what should work and why it would or wouldnt. There were plenty of other ones yesterday, I downloaded them off one of those free sites but dont have time to wade through them all to figure out the intracies of wave file differences. I am hoping if I just process them all through this freac I wont have to think about it Thanks

    the first definately seems to be the right format to me.

    Anyway I have found that some do work and some do not. However I downloaded this free program http://www.freac.org and run the same files through that to convert them to ogg and m4a and import them then everything works just fine.

  • I have looked around the forum and read the manual. I have looked at the bug reporting bit and there are similar issues mentioned but it says they they have been resolved. I looked at the bug submitting form and cant see how I could make my issue fit the form and dont know how you could prove the negative. The issue is that every time I try to import a wav file it says it failed to make an ogg file. I made some flac files and tried with the and the same thing. I used audacity made some ogg files, imported them but they would not work. I cant figure out what the problem is. I have noticed that the wav files I have been trying to import are not 44100 but I dont know if that would be the issue.

    Any answers/suggestions?
