  • That's a good fallback to keep in mind.. I'm hoping the hit - if there is any at all - will be a very minimal thing.

  • Hi guys,

This is a question for the Scirra guys and lucid, and I think some of us who are thinking about using Spriter with Construct 2 might be interested in knowing about. Since Spriter takes animation to a 'cut-out-like' approach, saving on graphics memory, I take it that more CPU is needed for body part movement while the Spriter sprite is animating. My question is, how significant is the impact of using a Spriter sprite vs. a regular sprite? If we have a given machine that can draw 100000 sprites 60FPS in Chrome, how many given Spriter sprites can the same machine animate/draw 60FPS using the same browser?

  • Perhaps it's fair to have Apple take the proceeds made from blatant rip off games by shady devs in countries like China and distribute them to their rightful IP/dev holders.

  • Conspiracies aside, what about global IP issues? These days, anything from game software to hardware are easily duplicated by anyone skilled enough around the world. Let's focus on games - like HTML5 games. Does anyone have any experience about issues with game rippers who live beyond the reach of US law / influence? I'm talking about game devs who think that X game is good, easy to rip, and translate to a mobile platform because the game is a Flash game at the moment. And it's the game rippers live in a place that's beyond the reach the law protecting the original copyright holders, ex: China. There's an issue where you make a product first, but a copycat can claim they made the first "type" of product where they live in, such as the company who tried to pull their fake "iPhone 5" as the first company to have such a product in China well before Apple's official launch.

I mean, if we factor in the different laws around the world, is there a possibly of being sued by a copycat in their own country because they can simply try to screw you over your own product?

  • Oh thanks! That's cool

  • Hi guys,

Is there an easy way to display what's inside a 1D or 2D array in construct 2? Preferably in a matrix form (crosses fingers). Perhaps a console dump in Firefox or something like that can save time in debugging?

    Thanks!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Hmm.. tried the idea out, got rid of the 8-direction behavior and just used +- operations on the camera position. So far it looks all right. You think there's a performance hit between using the 8-direction's simulation control vs. directly manipulating the x and y axes of the camera?

  • Hi guys,

I've a hovering camera following my player, and it seems to be working well... except it gets stuck when trying to follow another player and there's a solid object between the two. Now I got a work around working that uses the jump-thru attributte instead, but is there anyway to make my camera object float around regardless of whether an object it's about to go through is solid or not?

  • Thanks guys! So given the gap between the 4 and 4S, normally, how does a game developer target this platform? 4 or 4S being the baseline?

  • Just curious, has anyone here experienced how the 3GS is with iOS5, most especially with the hardware accelerated canvas? And if so, how was it performance wise in relation to 1. games on canvas, and 2. other canvas applications?

I'm thinking of getting an Apple platform (iPhone or iPad) for testing purposes, but I'm on tight budget, so I'm wondering if the 3GS' performance with iOS 5 can still be considered as baseline as far as mobile game development's concerned...

  • Hey guys,

TC's just posted an article about the post-Zynga future:

    techcrunch.com/2012/08/04/zyngapocalypse-now-and-what-comes-next

Might be a good read before pushing out your (upcoming) games to the market.

    Cheers,

    Les
