  • Hi, im making my Privacy Policy and i wanted to know what kind of data does a typical app made with Construct 3 collects?

I mean a simple game that does not use a webcam or nothing fancy. I never requiere the user to log on or register an account, nothing like that.

Im building this Privacy Policy to comply with the new Mobile Advert plugin.

Im using this Privacy Policy generator to do it

    app-privacy-policy-generator.firebaseapp.com

I dont really know what to put in the "Personal Identifiable data you collect" form.

If you really don't collect data mention all data inputted is on user-end and is not collected in any form or shape on a private server(you might want to convert that into the actual legal form). however..... there is a miss understanding on collecting information. While your app is not directly collecting data, you might have a 3rd party service inside that does.

And mainly is advertising analytics which you need to know what ur ad provider collects, and other 3rd parties u use inside ur app that might collect information from your players/users without u even being aware. So you have to research what ur 3rd parties are collecting and say that ur app is collecting that, even though is not u directly doing it ... u can specify that ur using as an example google ads and google ads has a analytics collection data. Same goes for all ur 3rd parties.

As a test, in the link u sent i inputed some random keywords and clicked next.... this is what i seen related to your question.

Personally i would use a hand-made privacy thing not an automated service, cause the automated service you are using is meant to cover firebase business and not yours.

  • The Construct engine itself does not store or transmit any personal information. This only becomes a concern if you use plugins that store or transmit personal information, such as a text input and the AJAX plugin to collect the user's name and send it to a server.

So is there any Policy Generator like that one i linked but for mobile apps?

    Ashley ok thanks.

  • There are plenty of services for automated privacy policy one of them that has a bunch of feature is

iubenda However they do not have a free plan, but their features are insane every aspect you need they have it. they have plans for 9$/month or a year never used it but i tested their generation process just now while i was googling for the free version bellow and i found it to be amazingly good. However if you want a free privacy policy generator use this link freeprivacypolicy They have a few options those being website / app and for collection data they have google analytics which is what ur ads would usually use, and cookies to track user location, simple checkbox process and questions. That should get you started easily.

You can always check google analytics and swap the names and respective links of the analytics to what ur 3rd party is using.

Another service that is free i think by trial, would be RocketLawyer . They are like a official US lawyers that do documents online, from business stuff to policy and stuff and their automated.

For more complex services ... click here Google Search

  • Yeah, i did that google search before making this post and i ended up with that website you linked "freepolicygenerator" that isnt actually free, at the end of the process it ask for you to pay to get the full thing, and i ended up with the link i posted in my original post.

I may end up using the original link i posted and changing all the mentions of "Service" to "my app" or something like that?

  • I used a generator for my privacy policy, you can see the result at:

    cyborgsattack.com/privacypolicy.htm

And for additional compliance, I have a terms of service:

    cyborgsattack.com/termsofservice.htm

    You really need both.

  • zumwaltwood what generator did you use?

  • Rhino + Trust Guard

    trust-guard.com/privacy-policy-generator.htm

You can copy both my privacy policy and terms of service, then just tweak them for your own needs.

They are very complete and meet international requirements.

Thanks dude, will see what can i do, im kinda scared of updating my games with this new stuff but get it wrong and get banned =S

  • Lots of useful information in this topic, thanks guys!

If I publish my game on Google Play or App Store, do I need to include the privacy policy and T&C into the app? Or can I just put the link "For Privacy Policy click here" that redirects to my website?

Usually google play and other services like it have a field to link ur privacy policy and tos on the app download page, however more and more publishers and developers are adding those links or the privacy policy file directly in the app so u can read it, while using the app, without being redirected, like a credits page... but for tos and privacy.

Are there any advantages in embedding them into the app? Why can't I have them published on my website?

  • Are there any advantages in embedding them into the app? Why can't I have them published on my website?

You can have them on your website, is your choice, but you have to consider a few things.

Cons having popups in your app, they might not always work, tos policy needs to be on a 24/7 website hosted which not always happens from various reasons, the business isn't generating enough to pay for the hosting etc.

Another con would be each new android/ios/browser/update popups are handled differently, in past as if i recall correctly some android games didn't had popups or redirects to other games properly working.

Now the above are not very serious cons but they matter to a more "picky user".

There are a few advantages like:

Your app looks a bit more professional and you get a bit more trust from people as you appear to care of your business.

You don't have to worry about the policy /tos being hosted = no hosting costs.

Avoiding popup blockers and other issues regarding iapp redirects.

Now all of them are not very bad things or good things, but it probably takes 5 minutes to add them and they don't do any harm to no one.

As if you'll ask what if i want to update my policy, you can have a free hosting service and fetch the policy and tos from there. Same applies for the above "0 costs hosting". But when you have a freehosting service, they might not always have SSL and some browsers might give users warnings as "not secure", making your app look suspicious.

And finally chances are nobody will actually read your policy or tos agreement, but if someone decides to sue you because while playing your game they got annoyed and smashed their device, and they have access 24/7 to your privacy and tos without any interference from your hosting provider etc... then you are covered, and they wont be able to claim a brand new iphone plus damages of not being in contact with their friends/business because of your game. As well in the case of a data leech, you will be covered much easier as your tos would probably have something along the lines if you dont agree with this TOS then uninstall the app and be in the users ability to read whenever they want 24/7.

Nobody is going to force you to have them built in ... is just that old saying ... "the little things make the difference" and the other golden saying "better safe then sorry".

There are probably more advantages and cons, but this are the few that pop'd in my head now as a simple logic.

Sorry if i smashed some words or sentences into a potato pulp.

  • How would Google notice you are not following the GDPR rules 100% in termes of the Privacy Policy? I think the only way they notice it is if someone reports you right? Im want to use the Policy generator but im not sure if my account will get banned some time or even get sued or something i dont know!
