• Underwater metroid-alike, possibly

    Edit: better screenshot

  • That looks really neat, Khalan! It's a little dark. I realize you want it to be, but it may be a little prohibitively dark.

  • Thanks! Yeah, I'd considered that after I posted. I'm planning to add a gradient layer set to Multiply so it gets lighter towards the top and darker the lower you get. And/or adding more luminescent sealife.

  • Added the gradient lighting so it's brighter further up. Also added some sea plants, set to a random image out of three I've drawn (all graphics are hand-drawn) with a random colour tint, distributed on a plant map:

  • Your screenshot is still a bit dark. Yet we are able to see more. Have you sized it up compared to the previous one ? (It looks like it has scanlines drawn)

Anyway, it looks nice. It sets some ambience, and I guess with the use of some of CC's candy eye tools it must look very nice once animated and on screen.

    Keep up the good work.

  • The forum shrinks the pictures a bit, so I took a smaller screenshot so it didn't resize so much. Yes, it's still fairly dark, but it's meant to be deep down - there will be brighter areas further up nearer the surface. There are scanlines and noise effects added.

It's turning out pretty well. Thanks for the comments!

  • Here's an example of a lighter area:

Added schools of fish in the background.

Also improved the lighting a bit, this is a deep area:

  • Damn that looks good. I tried lighting on one of my old games ages ago. And failed miserably. I wish my games had the looks of the games on these forums...

  • Some screenshot's of my game Othelia.I have been working on this game for quite some time now.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It has a "heart of darkness" character look like :)

The background seems a bit "empty"/redundant but the characters look pretty nice, as well as the FX.

Nice GUI too (looks really pro).

Hard to say more from 2 screenshots, but if you had the means to post a video (even a short one), I'd be happy to watch it and comment more.

  • Kyatric The backgrounds still needs a lot of work. The game is still in it's test phases at the moment.I will create a vid as soon as i have more going on within the game.

about to reach 8000 lines of c++ code on plugin portion of this baby and 425 events for the editor

almost done working on saving loading routines. the biggest obstacle left in the way of making a real tech demo vid.

I'll ask here so i dont have to make a new thread for a simple question: How do i make a infinite parallax? Like, the bg moves up and down slowly AND wraps around

you should just start a thread in help about it

  • Figured I'd post some images of my game on this thread, just for the heck of it. Still very early, no HUD etc. The top pic uses more heavier effects, while the bottom is far clearer. It's a top down apocalypse survival sim with a black and white theme.
