Rushino I use a separate layer for the "darkness" which is an empty layer set to a black colour, an opacity of less than 100 (I set this per layout, the higher the number, the darker the level will be), set the "Force Own Texture" option for the layer to Yes, and finally add a "Multiply" layer effect. For the coloured lights, I just created a coloured circular sprite and set it's opacity to something low like 10. I then spawn this on the "Darkness" layer and it cancels out the dark parts!
