WE'RE WELL OVER HALFWAY THROUGH JANUARY ALREADY, BUT THAT MEANS IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR THE GLOBAL GAME JAM!
For those of you who haven’t come across the Global Game Jam before, it’s usually a huge, annual, in-person jam that takes place all over the world at the end of January. This year, however, things are going to be a little bit different.
As the world is still in the grip of a pandemic, Global Game Jam is going completely online for the first time ever! This also means that the structure of the jam is a little different this year. For 2021, sites will be able to choose their jam window between January 27th and January 31st.
So, what does that mean for you? Well, we're carrying on our tradition and will be making the full version of Construct 3 available to use for free for the duration of the jam. With the nature of GGJ Online, that means you'll be able to use C3 for an extended period this year!
The Details
The full version of Construct 3 will be available for all to use completely free from 4am UTC on January 27th through to 4am UTC February 1st (that should cover all the timezones!)
All you will need to do is:
- Make sure you've registered a free account
- Simply visit editor.construct.net to load Construct 3
- Log in with your account - you'll then have access to the full version!
The Jam opens at 5pm in each timezone on the 27th and runs for roughly 120 hours from that point. There’s a single globalised theme which will be revealed closer to the start of the jam. You can keep up with all the goings-on with the official hashtag #GGJONLINE.
Last year, the in-person jam saw people jamming together across more than 900 sites in 115 countries, and we’re so proud that over 200 games were made in Construct. That’s a great contribution from you guys (and a great source of inspiration for this year!) With the online nature of this year's jam, we're sure even more people will be taking part and we can't wait to see all of the games you come up with!
We’d love to know if you’re joining the Jam, so share your creations with us! Use the tags #MadeInConstruct or #Construct3, or tag us directly on Twitter or Facebook using @ConstructTeam and we’ll share as much as we can!
Have fun!
